Re: Excluding video files from device sync

Whew! I am sometimes reluctant to suggest an approach when I haven’t proven it to myself several times over in the same context. Congrats on getting it working as you needed.

Re: Excluding video files from device sync

Of course you want to restrict that rule to videos only, so that the rest of your sync still works. :)

Re: Excluding video files from device sync

I hope this is useful for you. It has been for me re auto-organize. Re leaving video files in place, the video collection rule that worked for me ended up being the simple entry ".\<Filename>". Please excuse that I have not tried it in a device sync context.

Re: Denon can't see MM service unless MM app is running

Hmmm... During the "Windows installation" phase of the latest MM Gold for existing Gold licensees (MediaMonkey_4.1.25.1895.exe ~ is this the same for everybody?), there is offered portable installation but not installation as a service as far as I can tell. Nor does it appear to be offered during th...

Re: Denon can't see MM service unless MM app is running

Lowlander - or other seer, could you reply to this again, with the following question(s) in mind? I want my Windows 10 Pro platform that acts as a home server to boot and make the hosted MM Server immediately available to other LAN devices. It has been my expectation that this can occur without my h...

Re: Possible Enhancement to Auto Organize Exclusion

My non-video re-org phrase does place files in a hierarchy at a defined location: "D:\Media (My)\$if(<Type>=Music,<Type>,<Type>s)\<Album Artist:56>\<Album:56>\$Left(Disc <Disc#:2>- Track <Track#:3>- <Title>,56)". Because video files may reside on any of several large external devices, and because I ...

Re: Possible Enhancement to Auto Organize Exclusion

Nice. Marvelous, in fact. Using the provided add/edit rule popup window, I was able to choose appropriate collections for the respective rules - or vice versa. Re leaving the video files in place, the video collection rule ended up being the simple entry ".\<Filename>". Again, thanks. p.s. Along the...

Re: Possible Enhancement to Auto Organize Exclusion

Thank you for the tip. I would hope to take advantage of it, but am not sure how to do so. I intend to set up an attended or unattended (re-)scan of the drives and folders on which the videos are kept, in order to add the video files to a video collection. But I assumed that a rule applied to a coll...

Possible Enhancement to Auto Organize Exclusion

My library of audiobooks and music are auto-organized by album-artists and albums, which stores them in a hierarchical folder system that works great. But when it comes to videos, I would greatly prefer that the videos are catalogued but not organized, for two reasons: collectively they are too larg...

Re: "The media transfer process appears to be frozen" [#15332]

Thank you - for both pieces of information, and for the kind way of imparting them. I have unchecked the "Sync" box for the relevant drives, and I do now recognize that this forum is for MM5 only. So indeed my intelligence has slipped a notch.

Thanks for your work on making this a stellar product. MI

Re: "The media transfer process appears to be frozen" [#15332]

That's great news, Ludek, thank you. But I am finding that perhaps my ignorance is also affecting my intelligence. Am I going to see the "Devices and Services" node among the collections on MM 4.1.23.1881, or is there another path to it?

Re: "The media transfer process appears to be frozen" [#15332]

Even if "solved", the question remains why MediaMonkey is interrogating all connected data storage, if I have not requested MM to do that. MM runs here on a local private server that backs up LAN computers to a set of external drives. MM should not bother with those backup drives nor with any mapped...

Re: Slow folder loading [#14922]

Thx. I removed the debug version, removed the 3 files assoc'd w/RegEx and started MM. It performed superbly. Should I avoid that add-on, or try again at installing it?

Re: Slow folder loading [#14922]

For quite some while, loading MM (gold) with a database of over 30K mostly-mp3 files took more than 30 seconds but under a minute on a quite capable and capacious dual-xeon workstation. More recently, loading and becoming responsive consumes more than 150 seconds. Under MM 4.1.20.1864 only the splas...

Re: Moving a portable library

Got it. Makes sense to me. I use MM mostly to catalog content and then push it to other devices.
