Re: Any plan to add .webm as a file type? [#7353]

It would be nice if this could be back-ported to MM4. IIUC webm is just a variant of MKV container using VP9 video and Opus audio codecs. I'm more interested in managing in MM4 library rather than playback.

MM5 2054 wrong ID3v2.4 frame field separator [#13840]

Per ID3 v2.4 spec 4.2 All text information frames supports multiple strings, stored as a null separated list, where null is reperesented by the termination code for the charater encoding. In viewing mp3 files that have had tags written by MM5, it appears that text information frames are being writte...

MM5 2054 doesn't display album artists [#13836]

I just started looking at the MM5 alpha. AFAICT, for music collection I can add a node for "album artist"; however when I open that node the only thing displayed are Artists, not all Album Artists as tagged. In MM4 I was using album artist as a way to include aliases and it worked very well for that...

Export m3u encoded UTF-8 without BOM

Currently when I export a playlist from MediaMonkey, it creates an M3U file encoded in UTF-8 with a BOM at the beginning ( 0xEF 0xBB 0xBF). The use of a BOM seems to be a Windows thing, is not required, and causes problems when reading files in other programs. Modifying the playlist export so that i...

Re: Moved MM -- lost video thumbnails

So I've tried various things, installed another portable version with defaults, installed normally. I do notice when I start the program, I get a progress bar that says generating thumbnails. There are 70 mp4 files, but it always shows it is generating thumbnails for 3 files. If I look at the files ...

Moved MM -- lost video thumbnails

Had a computer failure. Was running MM 4.1.9.1764 in portable mode. So I restored a backup of MM on my new hardware, also restored media files to new HDD (used same folder structure). I used the "update location of files in database" script to set the new HDD serial in the MM.DB. All that seems to w...

Re: Multiple value field - GENRE imported tags

I have had a problem along these lines. It had to do with a Unicode BOM (FFFE) getting inserted at the beginning of a genre field, but in this case it was easily evident in looking at the hex and using an SQLite viewer on the MM database. I'm not sure if MM or MP3Tag was the source of the BOM gettin...

Re: Artwork for WAV files

Sorry for butting in, but wouldn't it be easier just to remux the WAV files into lossless FLAC and then you can tag all you need? Is there a reason you require WAV?

Re: move files from ext drive to new ext hard drive - help p

I've found auto-organize works pretty well. The only issue I had was I have some .m4a files in the library, and subsequently I changed my file monitor scan options to not scan for .m4a files. I can use auto-organize to move them, but afterwards MM will say the file is missing. I can use the "locate ...

Re: Can MM edit APEv2 tags in mp3 files?

I haven't done it, but mp3tag has the ability to remove APE v1 and v2 or convert to ID3 v1 and v2 tags.

Tagging artist aliases?

Wondering if anyone attempts to code artist aliases into tags? I have a lot of Korean and Japanese music and want to keep track of various renderings of artist names. So far I have been using the "primary" name in <artist> and "primary; alias1" in <album artist> but I'm not sure that's the best solu...

Re: MEDIAMONKEY RUINED ALL MY MUSIC

Thing is, I think MM does a pretty good job (also the script writers) of showing exactly what it is going to do before it lets you commit the change. Obviously it is frustrating after the fact to realize you didn't look closely enough before clicking OK.

Re: Semi colon symbol query

It's a little more complicated. For MP3 files (mostly) ID3 tags are used (other file types can also have ID3 tags. It may or may not cause problems with certain readers). MM4 works with ID3 v1 and ID3 v2.3 tags (mostly). ID3 v2.3 tag spec only allows multiple values in certain tags (for example, art...

Re: Mounted network shares

I don't know the answer to your question, but I did some testing and MM4 works the same as far as the data base in Win 7 and Win 8. In both cases scanning a mapped network drive (note AFAIK, when you "map" a network drive on Windows it is not the same as mounting a drive) produced identical results:...

Re: Custom Report 2.9 - Updated 05/08/2012

My experience is that MM will keep any unicode, as long as you have the option for ID3 tag ASCII+UTF-16 set (not sure exactly what MM does with other tag specs, it seems to work in FLAC - vorbis comments ). Custom report with the UTF-16 option does work for me. For programs which want UTF-8 encoding...
