Volume Analysis
I opened MM5 this morning and see the activity indicator spinning while at the bottom of the screen a line of text says: "Analyzing volume 185_186_187_etc. of 29,109." I do want volume leveling, but I expected analysis to take place only once when I first acquire and save each file. What h...

Using MM5, want to uninstall MM4
I have MM5 working great on Windows 10 so am ready/eager to uninstall MM4. May I simply run the Windows uninstaller or is there a smarter method? Any potential problems or easy mistakes I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help and reassurance.

Re: Great Sounding Computer Speakers
I'm pretty criticaI about speakers, but I just upgraded to a pair of AudioEngine HD-3s and am very pleased. Really good desktop sound if you can swing $350. Self-powered, compact, good looking (the speakers), and can be hooked up in various ways: cable, USB, and wireless via Blue Tooth. I can take '...

Re: Using the equaliser
Update: I hooked up new, more sophisticated, speakers today and believe they sound best with no equalization. I guess it makes sense that better speakers need less correction. (AudioEngine HD-3s)

Re: Using the equaliser
The short answer is "vocals." My (gentle) curve roughly matches the frequency of the human voice. The longer answer is --predominantly country/folk/bluegrass. I haven't had the energy to try different preset profiles for my rock or cajun collections, etc., so I don't have a suggested profi...

Re: Using the equaliser
I agree with Lowlander. Considering the music I play most often and my particular speakers, I have the equalizer bands set and saved as a preset in a gentle hump profile with the 500 and 1k sliders set to +4 and others tapered down to the 31 and 16k at 0 (zero). This slight emphasis on the midrange ...

Re: Too much time thinking on what to listen
MM makes collecting, organizing, and playing so convenient that my collection also has grown into many thousands. The basic mission is to have convenient access to music that I enjoy, so I value playlists that make it easy to cue-up favorites -- thank you for all this, Media Monkey. I agree that hav...

Re: Great Sounding Computer Speakers
Stereophile magazine gave a good review to the Dragonfire Acoustics Mini Dragon DFA 2.1 desktop speakers. Unfortunately they cost $10,000, about $9,500 more than my computer... which came with speakers.

Re: How to rate songs?
Interesting discussion. I don't use the rating system, but I do like to have convenient access to songs that strike me as so good that I expect to play them often. When I add songs to the database I put the juiciest ones on "hits" playlists -- Folk Hits, Country Hits, Great Female Voices, ...
