Re: Tips to avoid duplicates and stay organized

I was really looking for general suggestions/best practices as my troubles were some time ago and most likely self inflicted. I'm basically starting over with MediaMonkey as of today and wanted to find out if there was anything I should know before I got in deep. I MAY not have any issues. I suspec...

Peke wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:25 pm Hi,
good catch added as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21024
Thanks for adding this request. Just getting started using MMW for videos and I think this will help when devices not capable of showing higher resolutions (and / or "wide" aspect ratios).

[REQ] TV and Movies Video Resolution for Collections [#21024]

It is possible to display a "Resolution" column for <TYPE> equals TV and Video (Music Video? and Video Podcast?). However, resolution does not appear to be included in list of fields for matching criteria in the Collection Options dialogue. Please could <Resolution> be added to the criteri...

Re: WV to Flac and Then Split

Hi Lineare2, The CUE file is a text file, so I would have used NOTEPAD or EditPlus (any text editor). I use Medieval's CUE Splitter mostly, but FooBar is also useful. To be fair, I feel more work has been done within MMW to better handle multi-track FLAC files. So you may want to take a look at that...

Re: How to handle multi disc albums?

Hi, My Media Monkey Windows auto-organise (Tools / Options / Library / Auto-Organise) is aimed at sending files to a single hard disk with folders for each <Type> and then organising first by Album Artist and then by Album. [I also keep a backup on another PC that runs MMW4 - this is done using Salt...

Re: How to handle multi disc albums?

Consider the case of "Boxed" sets of CDs! I handle this by using hierarchical playlists e.g. Album Artist / Non-Boxed Set Albums + Boxed Sets (then Boxed Set Albums at the 3rd level down). A few typical boxed sets 1). Creedence Clearwater Revival --->Chronicle --->CD Box Set ------->The Go...

Re: Imported Playlists Organization

Not certain if this helps with your specific use case. I tend to use Drag and Drop with multi-select to organise my "imported" playlists leaving behind those I do not want. I then just delete the imported playlist node to remove those not wanted. The node is recreated next time there are M...

Re: Mirrored Synchronization

Sync device using a USB connection first! Be clear whether you are synching to the Phone's storage or a Micro SD card in the phone. A 256 GB Micro SD card should hold a few thousand tracks; a 1 TB card can hold 20,000 or more tracks - obviously depending on what else in stored. You might want to syn...

Re: BPM For Your Music

Thanks for the information. I currently use FooBar 2000 (with the BPM add-in) for this purpose by dragging and dropping a list of files from MMW5 to FB. After the analysis is complete, I press update in FB2000. The BPM details typically show after a short delay in MMW5 because I am using a folder (D...

Re: Migrating back to MediaMonkey 4

One approach is to: From MMW5 - File / Export All Playlists to a specific folder e.g. E:\Playlists. Keep an eye on the status bar "Exporting..." for completion. From MMW4 - switch to the Playlist node and note the number of Playlists. Set your "Add / Rescan to include the specific fol...

Re: Making Comments viewable in layout

There are 10 custom fields availalble, managed through Tools > Options > Library > Fields . One or more of those could be devoted to "Shortened Album Name" or "Album Category", which can then be added to the main list panel ( Right click column heading > All Fields > Custom ) an...

Re: Making Comments viewable in layout

If this helps... I often use comments in order to shorten album names. So phrases like "Remastered"; "Deluxe Edition"; "Vinyl Rip" are in my comments field. As Lowlander points out this can easily be added to the columns AND can even be sorted. BUT As Peke mentions, it ...

Re: script to auto delete based on a custom tag

Hi Ian, You mentioned about putting "for car", "for tablet", etc in the custom field. I got lost how that identifies which songs you like and which ones your wife likes. Hi GLRider, For my wife's selection, we used the Music node with everything sorted by Album Artist then Album...
