I wonder why MediaMonkey can't generate playlists for genres? Isn't genre just another tag, like artist and album? MM already can generate playlists for artists and albums.

Yes, I find that surprising too. I also contacted the MM support and they said it couldn't be done.

However I guess for somebody who can write an appropriate script it shouldn't be too hard. It surely would be a nice update for MM.
Basically all that is needed is to create folders on the SD card for the genres that exist in the library. Then, all album playlists must be copied into the right folder depending on the genre they belong to.

Anybody who can help out with a script?

No, Genre is not available for Playlist creation, which actually surprised me.

Genre playlists for an SD card [#8635]

Hi all,

in order for my car hifi to quickly mount my SD card (about 10 seconds vs 15 minutes!), I need a flat file hierachy, i.e. all music files must be in one directory regardless of the album. I managed to do that with MediaMonkey.

To comfortably access the files, I need to create playlists. Using the configuration tab for the SD card I successfully created Album Playlists in an "Album"-folder.

Additionally, I would like to have a folder for every genre like "Jazz", "House", "Latin" etc. on the SD card. In these folders I would like to have playlists for those albums that belong to the respective genre. I tried my best but could not find a solution in MediaMonkey.

Is there a way to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
