Statement from ZvezdanD (Developer of MagicNodes, RegExp Find & Replace, Export/Create Playlists and others), including:
MM developers, please compare that number with the number of MM5 scripts created in the last four years and ask yourself why is such difference. Do you really think it is a fault of the scripters why there is still no MM5 scripts? If your whole excuse is that "the original ones (scripters) don't have spare time to do this job", how do you explain that the old MM got so much scripts for the same timeframe of four years? Do you think that the scripters had more spare time back then than now? How many years should pass further before you figure that?

I think the explanation is obvious to all, but MM developers: the new scripting model is an unsuccessful experiment and complete failure. The MM developers should forget about it and try to make their application as much compatible with the old scripts as it is possible. There is no point in adding something that nobody sees a real benefit of it. Is it really better to have something full of empty promises that nobody is using instead of something else that already works fine?

I understand the difficulties with the old code vs the new code.
I'm just thinking that MM5 implies an improvement over MM4.
But MM4 was so good and it now appears that MM4 will have functionality and scripts that MM5 will never have - like all the major MagicNodes and RegExpress functionality.
It will be really interesting to see how MM5 develops and whether it will be worth buying a fresh licence for it.

I was trying to port something, but Magic Nodes script (and I can analyze only its free version) is way too complex and too deeply based on VBS specialities. And in MM5 it would also slow down GUI a lot. So the work on it is stopped now. We will most probably implement only some of the most demanded features natively later.

So this query has sat here for nearly a week, and has 137 views, and has no answer.
I guess that is information of a sort ... ie. the contradiction of the saying "No news is good news" :(

Which features of these add-ons would you miss the most? ... ie. miss in a big way, close to being deal-breakers?

I have used MagicNodes, but only scraped the surface really. So I haven't got much to add.

There isn't anything that I would personally call a deal breaker.
But I would be disappointed to lose the facility to create a Collection's inclusion criteria using my own SQL statement, along with MagicNodes "played" fields Month and Year. ... I mostly use these to view albums played last calendar month, or albums played so far this calendar month. ... ie "<Months since last played> <= 0" ... but I could have scratched this specific itch using my Last.fm account I suppose. ... but MM is faster, and it is where I am, when browsing my collection ... so just disappointed, not fully deal-broken.

btw If anyone is listening, this could be possible in MM5 itself if there was a small extension here.

MM4 / MagicNodes type scripts for MM5?

Hi.
I am enjoying using MM5, even in the beta stages. I also understand that the code used for MM4 scripts and MagocNodes is incompatible with MM5.
But I just wanted to ask whether there were any plans at all to have the functionality in MM5 that MagicNodes and RegExpress provides?
Thanks
