Oh, I thought that step 5 would be the trigger of the issue but you are right, that this step is not needed for reproduction.

Yes that's my experience as well. I just didn't included step 5 because that step wasn't critical to replicating the bug for me.

Thanks again!

One step missing is in your bug report. I inserted step 5 and renumbered:

1 Play
2 Cast to a device
3 Adjust volume
--> Casting volume adjusts as expected
4 Pause playback
5 Adjust volume
--> System media volume adjusts as expected
6 Resume playback
7 Adjust volume
--> System media volume adjusts instead of casting volume!

Thanks! Tracked at https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=20849

p.s. I'm not able to replicate the problem of volume controlling the CC once playback has paused. Does this occur consistently for you?

When casting to a chromecast speaker the hardware volume keys can be used to remotely control the volume of the speaker.

If these hardware keys are used while playback is paused the system volume is controlled. This may be the desired behaviour. But if playback is resumed, the hardware keys still control the system volume and not the remote volume.
