Were there any thoughts about an update so that selecting a playlist in a smart playlist filter select only the one playlist instead of all children? I can't find a ticket in Ventis for it (though I'm also not terribly good at searching in Ventis).

If I collapse the tree and select a parent playlist whose children are hidden, it still selects all children. Oddly enough, including the playlist I'm creating, which seems... weird.

One solution to competing desires might be to have the simple checkboxes as exist now select only the single playlist, but have a second checkbox next to each parent playlist that will select it and all children. Then the user can choose what behavior you want, and I feel like the UI would still be pretty easy to understand if the "select all" box uses the normal X'd checkbox for select all.

FYI, the parent and child options in issue 3221 would be amazing for my use case.

Try to collapse the nested tree and then Select Root one. It should not affect nested selection?

Unfortunately there was no clear consensus on the behavior and how improve things apron existing features.

I know it is a big read, but if you can share some light it would be greatly appreciated by many people and we can further improve things.

I use nested playlists to do things like have a list for everything of a particular mood, then further filter that down by rating or intersection with another mood or whatever. The nested playlists use "Playlist is [parent]" in order to make sure that tweaks like excluding Christmas music or whatever cascades to the whole list at once.

When selecting a playlist in the auto-playlist configuration, though, checking the box for a playlist with other lists nested inside it selects not only the box I clicked, but also all the playlists nested inside it. I then have to uncheck those other boxes manually, which is annoying.

Would it be possible to have it check only the box I clicked instead of it and all its children?
