OK, seems that the "Check for updates" task leaves this infinite process in 2418 (similar like volume levelling).

I tried to close out MM, first stopped music. then X. I get message that there are background process do i want to terminate them. There should not be any processes. I agree and mm closes. I start again, after a wait, and it appears to be working correctly .. no circle.

I don't see this. Does it start again after restarting MediaMonkey?

I am simply playing music using Dj ... i am not scanning or anything else. But the wheel keeps on turning. If i Hover over it it just displays a blank edit line
