I think that you might be having the same problem that I have (iPod Touch Gen 7). You need to have iTunes installed on your PC in order to access your iPod for Sync purposes, to view, etc.

Found this out the hard way when I deleted iTunes after transferring all my music to my iPod using MMW5 (while iTunes was still installed). After transferring all my music to from MM5 to my iPod, I deleted iTunes as planned. Had to reinstall iTunes in order to Sync, etc. It seems that MM is aware of the problem (new firmware in iPod) and they are working on it.
Really bummed me out since I was trying to get rid of all Apple software and go with MM.
