Conversion can be done with MMW on Sync, MMA itself has no method to convert.

Hi,
No, WMA decoder is not available for MMA Free and MMA Pro users because MMA relies on native device codecs to play files. So if device can't play natively WMA MMA can't play it too.

Creating our own codec pack is still TBD in order to gather all aspects and see what can be done.

So much for a lifetime MediaMonkey pro license or is there a solution?.... Do you have a conversion option for pro license holders???

Hi,
WMA is proprietary format and possibly royalty fees needs to be paid in commercial products like MMA as "core Android platform doesn't support this format" for now there is no talks/plans of own WMA codec support.

Do not get me wrong, but my personal opinion is that WMA is a bit obsolete format, even for lossless where FLAC is much wider accepted and supported natively.

.wma doesn't play on MMA on Android 11+!! Can MMA include a codec?

Hello,

My new Samsung S21 running MMA no longer plays any .wma files! However, my previous Samsung S7 running MMA played both .wma and .mp3 files perfectly, and I have a large library.

Apparently this is not because of MMA but instead Android 11 and above no longer supports the .wma / .wmv codec. Grrr!

1. Can others confirm this?
2. Is there a way MMA can play .wma files by either including a codec, or linking to a 3rd party codec, or some other means?
3. Alternatives are changing to another Android Media player (which I don't want to do, as I really like MMA), or converting all .wma's to .mp3's. Any better suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks in advance.
