MM4 Crash when Windows Speech Recognition is Active

by blackrabt » Mon Jul 27, 2015 8:47 am

I am using MM version 4.1.7.1741 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit currently on 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
MediaMonkey runs fine with speech recognition suspended or in sleep but when it is active MM crashes within about 5 seconds every time. This seems to be the same issue encountered in a much earlier version of MediaMonkey, from my readiong of these bug reports.
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=59653
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/search ... id%5B%5D=7

It is not related to trying to use speech recognition to control MediaMonkey or even having the window in focus, simoply having both running at the same time generates the issue.
I would appreciate some suggestions on how to avoid this.

Hi Rusty,

I've installed 1420, and can confirm that MM no longer crashed. :D

Many thanks to everybody for fixing this bug. 8)

Hi,

This should be fixed in build 1419+ .

Can you confirm that it works for you?

Thanks!

No probs Rusty... I didn't realise there were so many people using speech recognition! :)

I've just installed 1418 and sent in some new logs. The ticket numbers are: ZFZ-800482 & GER-573824.

The output plugin I'm using is the default - MediaMonkey DirectSound output.

The only other thing installed is the codec pack trial (1.12).

Hope that helps!

- Rich

Hi Rich,

Can you please resend a debug log (generated with build 1418+)? Or let me know what e-mail address you used? We can't track down a debug log for this.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I've not been able to replicate with build 1418, but a similar issue was reported with Dragon Dictate at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=58918

Hopefully the log will help. btw, what output plugin are you using?

MM4 clash with Windows Speech Recognition [#8242]

by rich_jtg » Sat Jul 30, 2011 11:11 am

Hi,

I've noticed that if you try to launch MM4 with Windows 7's 'Windows Speech Recognition' running, MM4 crashes.

It only appears to happen when the Speech Recognition is in listening mode, rather than sleeping.

As this would only affect a limited amount of users (ie me!), I'm not sure whether it's particularly worth a fix.

Thought I'd mention it though.
