ah come on gooddog. i know you have had issues i've tried to help i think? as i know others have.
sure they are slow in getting to the wish list but they do get there, i think they are infact trying to figure out
how to add most of them to monkey, but you got to and i think have already amitted monkey is fast in the library's
as for cartoonish skins? why thanks i know i made some good ones but to rank with the cartoons ! wow.
but you see the skins are so simple to make any one can make them with just some slight bit of thinking,
and know how to open the files.
they are made the same way the old winamp classic skins are by laying images on a file in a postion for the program
to use. then telling the program which corners of the image to use for what part of the program.
as i said before just like laying photos on backs of playing cards and reskinning the cards.
the trouble with most people is its too simple to grasp at first. the reason most are not as detailed as some like is the
cheaper images programs people get online for free. not everyone can get the big image editors like photo shop and know how to use all their tools. best big one for normal users was the windows picture it. there were tools that was simple to
get too and use for the none geek. but that program was messed up by ms. doing their bigger and better ideas for windows.
i can't even use it now as it wont work. and i don't have the full photo shop and ain't paying 300 for any program just to produce free skins. so with out the use of all the great old tools from the older more profound image editors i can't do anything in the 3d area of images eyal was doing some of that but hes on xp too he said and well we're limited on good programs anymore as they don't want to update the old stuff with new or better tools to use.
for me to make a 3d like image i'd have to spend about 4 hours on one image doing layers after layers on it in multiple image editors. that would have put my concert skin from 78 hours up to 120 hours if i made all the button images to 3d.
thats way too long for a free skin. anyone willing to pay for a skin like that would be paying me 300 for the time in it, and that is way to much for a skin to use on a free program or a 40 dollar program. and nobody would even think of paying that much for a skin from me or anyone.
so we make as good as we can for free, i do use photos for most my images some are just clip art images but most are photos, which give better details, still they are not 3d.
also the simplest way we make skins is the fun for most of us skinners if it was taking 10,000 images for one skin like the jet audio takes then there would only be the skins made by the developers or a few paid skinners like there are for the jet audio program. simple is better, it gets more ideas made in to skins, more skins are then able to be picked by more users.
more users makes it a bigger chance that they might buy the full program and not only use the free one.
it goes back to that keep it simple stupid idea.
