Done - I'll update this thread once I've heard back from support.

Thanks for your guidance!

Send it to support (attach to ticket).

Ah yes sorry should have read that!

I've managed to log the crash.. MM crashes when it tries to GetFileInfo for a particular track. Note that this is not the only track that it fails on - I moved the crashing folder out of the search selection, and MM still crashed, but this time on a different file.

This explains the behaviour that I was seeing, that sometimes when selecting a subfolder explicitly MM wouldn't crash, but for other songs it would.

What's the best way to attach the log?

That should be captured in DBGView (see instructions).

So I've installed MM debug into a different program files directory, and have reproduced the crash, but I can't find a log file in either Program Files (x86), or AppData (I did a search for all files modified in the last 5 minutes rooted in each of those directories)... Not sure where to go from here given there's no log file!!

Thanks for the responses!

I'll try getting a debug version installed and putting the logs together.

1 question for you. Did you buy these songs online that might be causing the issue because of the drm needing updated. I bought a few cd's of dino aka Dean Martin they allowed me to put them in one computer but when I tried to put them on the thumb drive to take to the jukebox computer they weren't copying to the flash drive. Tried a cd the same thing not copying to it either. I had to re rip them with the old slow jukebox cd drive. The only way I got the ones on the faster computer to copy was playing each one and record them to wav files with a wav editor. Now I can copy them back and forth to back them up. It seems that some companies have some kind of code in their files to stop copying even if ripped from a cd. I once bought a song that had a disappear code in it that made it go away when copied. Also got a free song offline they had a limit code in that it disappeared at a limit of days. Needless to say that I watch the free songs and get them again or record to wav. And don't buy cds by some companies.

I suggest using: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=63823

However as you're having a crash it would be useful to capture it in a debug log (step 4b) and to send the log to support for developer analysis: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

Locate missing files feature crashes MM

by tarasdi » Thu Oct 30, 2014 5:22 am

Hi,

I'm using the locate missing files feature, and on some of the files it actually crashes MM. No error messages, no warnings, just an immediate exit.

I'm doing this as part of migrating my music library to a new computer.

I've managed to select subsets of my library and locate them, but for some files it seems to crash.

Windows 8.1, main partition is a SSD, music is stored on a separate HDD. MM 4.1.5.1719 Gold.

I thought maybe it was the '[' in some of the filenames, but selecting some of the files without a '[' still causes a crash.

About 1/3 of the filenames shown in the screenshot below.

Thanks

Taras
