It is the INI file change... Which re-raises the issue.

If an invalid path means it doesn't scan music, shouldn't MM check for a valid folder on startup and turn it to a default if it's incorrect? If I delete what looks like a harmless cache folder or move an INI file from one PC to another, it should recognize that the folder is invalid or doesn't exist and reset the option to a default.

I confirm that it fixed. Only after a clean install MM (after uninstalling).

Without a clean install there were even bugs in the auto-playlists.
But now everything is OK!

It might require a clean install to show it is fixed.

Just wanted to jump in to mention I've run into the same issue with 1375 & 1376. Didn't want anyone to think it was just PhYrE's imagination!

Removed UPNP_CacheDir= from the MediaServer group and it now works (scans, etc)

This is 1376, so I can confirm that despite this claiming to be fixed at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=57937 and http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7810 , it is not.

Same problem in 1376.

Possible regression of: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7810

It now wants to delete every file in my library, but they all play and work fine. When I browse by location all looks well.

I tried selecting (OK) and unselecting the folder to monitor and it still finds zero files (despite thousands being in there).

The program is basically halted for me until this gets sorted out.

Debuglog (noting I abridged the repeititve block that stands out)

1376: Library Scanning issues

by PhYrE » Tue May 17, 2011 5:24 pm

I just exited MM4 and updated to 1375 from 1374.

The first thing I noticed is the media scan didn't happen.

So I click File | Add/Rescan. It completes in 10 seconds and imports no file. It then suggests I delete my entire 35,000+ songs that can't be found. I of course click cancel.

The Monitoring shows 0 of 0 (M:\- = ( MeDiA ) = -\)
when it finishes, it just disappears. It doesn't increment at all.

Meanwhile, I can successfully play all the files (so obviously it is in the right place on disk).

I had this issue after upgrading to 1375. I did fresh reinstall and the problem is gone.

Re: [1375] Add/Rescan doesn't work

by PetrCBR » Tue May 17, 2011 10:55 am

Code: Select all

[MediaSharing]
UPNP_CacheDir=
This is the problem. This issue should be fixed in 1375 (probably you've deleted ini file in any earlier build ?). Tracked in 7810. Also you can fix it by deleting UPNP_CacheDir variable from ini file.

Re: [1375] Add/Rescan doesn't work

Been having this problem too in 1375, works fine on my laptop portable install, but desktop doesn't add files either. The paths are valid, here''s the mediasharing section not sure what you mean here by the UPNP value

Code: Select all

[MediaSharing]
EnableMediaSharing=1
AllowControlViaUPnP=1
LimitConvertedContent=1
LimitConvertedContentSize=5000
UPNP_CacheDir=
UPNP_RendererUUID=
Both are W7 portable installs as well

edit: Just deleted the portable/mediamonkey.ini file and it's scanning properly as I type this. Not sure what the problem is but this will fix it if you don't mind losing your settings.

Also as it was a portable install, I found directories in my Users/myname/AppData subfolders for Mediamonkey, I removed those too as they're probably left overs from an old install that wasn't portable. (probably have nothing to do with it)

Didn't you deleted your ini file ? Check UPNP_CacheDir value inside MediaSharing section.

Not reproducible here.

Make sure you verify in the Entire Library > Location node that the files aren't in your Library and that your rules (file type to be scanned) allow for the files to be added.

1375: Add/Rescan doesn't work [#7810]

Try to add files to the library by rescanning folder containing multiple mp3 files. Doesn't work. Not a single file is added. Tried to move files to different folder, same result. Restarted MM, same result. Using portable MM on Win 7. Anyone else having similar problem? Worked in all previous builds.
