Well it was with the 4.3.1472 that this problemed happened, but I've resolved it the hard way, uninstalling MM completely and cleaning up the registry entries (thanks Revo), and then reinstalling it. Now it works :D But I don't recall having done anything in particular to get this problem :/

Which version of MediaMonkey (Help > About)? I have no issues using the Vitreous skin on 4.0.5.1485.

Hi,

I happen to have this problem also, but in my case I did not have this particular skin (iMonkey) installed and yet I can't use the search function.

The only way for me to make the search work is to click "disable skins" in the options, but in this case I can't have the MicroMonkey player any more... The skin I use is the Glided one. I may have installed several skins in the past, but I've removed them since and still no luck.

Do you have any idea of how resolving this problem? The search function is really... useful :D

Thanks in advance guys

You're right with the iMonkey skin MediaMonkey doesn't search while typing.

I found the issue.
It was a theme I downloaded off the MM site called iMonkey which was causing all the issue.
Took me 7 days to find it but all sorted now.

For me it still does instant search, but it is a lot slower in starting the search. This is actually good as it has increased performance a lot.

I am having a similar problem. I used to be able to type in my search criteria (in the search bar) and it would bring up the options available as I typed.
Now it has stopped doing that and I have to hit the enter key to get it to do a physical search.
Is this search function linked to iTunes by any chance?
I have tweaked my advanced search, changed the criteria (whole word search in advanced search) and done a "maintain library" run and still no luck.
I really do prefer the quick check option and it makes it so much simpler.

Thanks that is a little easier to use, since it is in one window instead of having to go to different places. I would have like to be able to just type in the artist and/or title into a blank line, but I can deal with 'editing' the search everytime. I had seen this feature before but it was not 'intuitive' as to how to use it. But once you pointed out that it would be a 'solution', I figured out how to use it.

Thanks for your help and time

The Advanced tab can search only Artist.

Re: Search function

well that helped me find a clunky way to find things

i will use the search field to search for artist (ONLY) and use the magnify glass search to find the titles.

i was hoping to find a way to customize the Magnify Search window to ONLY search artists, but it lists BOTH artist AND album artist, even when I have 'artist' only checked in the checkbox (but that checkbox is for the SEARCH ALL Fields box.

I guess I will have to put in a feature request to allow the search window to be customized so that i can list the specific fields i want to search independently

If there is a way to 'fix' this please let me know

-thanks :(

REQ: For 'Artist' only

by thefaceman » Fri Oct 21, 2011 1:47 pm

How do I 'customize' the Search window to ONLY search the 'artist' field. currently it shows that it searches 'artist and album artist' fields. So unless i 'blank out' all of my 'album artist' fields, how can I find only a search results from the ARTIST field ONLY

Thanks in advance

And you can click on the search button to open basic or advanced search giving even more control over what you search.

You can type "artist:Squeeze" into the search bar and it'll only search for artists with Squeeze.
