Hi.
Thank you. Yes, I feel something like that would be perfect for my needs.
A great idea having it as part of the auto playlist options.

Hi,
FMFS Format DB query bit different than Auto-Playlist and in FMFS Album Value is Known not random so it is much easier to get desired result.

Anyway, if I got his correctly something like https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16228 would give you exact results you wanted?

Thanks all.
Yes, I was aware of various workarounds. And currently I have the "Random Album (refresh)" selected. I have added the criteria of limiting the time to 60 minutes, which gives me the whole album in most cases, and sometimes there is overspill to a few tracks of a different album (given the 60 minutes criteria).
I was simply wondering whether the developers of MM5 would consider the function of being able to select 1 complete album, without the user having to make additional filters or workarounds.
MM5 already has the function of right-clicking on a track and selecting "Find more from same album". MM4 had a script/node which was able to isolate a single complete album (no more and no less).
I just want to be able to ask MM5 to throw up an album at random and have the complete album presented.
If it isn't possible fair enough, but I can't see that it should be impossible given the "Find more from same album" functionality.

You could generate random album like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mk159zqj5v690 ... 8.png?dl=0
The limitation is the preset of number of tracks in album

But maybe the true limitation is that in the random album selection it does not sort the tracks by "Tracks #" ?
i.e. Even if the songs are grouped by random album they are not sorted by 'Track #' which is problematic especially if you want to play the album in order.
I will fix this for the next build.

EDIT: Workaround is to add "Random album" also to the sort section: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wweitwysanbv0 ... 5.png?dl=0

I am also a Whole-Album listener. My requirement is slightly different to yours, but my work flow may give you some ideas.

I want to play whole albums. I want an active playlist which gives me a list of albums, which meet my selection criteria ... so that I could:
  • browse this limited list of albums .... I limit each album having just a single track in the playlist, so that the music client will show the album cover art for recognition ... but any album limited to just appearing in the playlist just once, for ease of scroll browsing
  • select an album from the list
  • then queue it for playing
This requires two things:
  • #1. a music player client whose playlist browser allows you click on a track in the playlist, and navigate to the album (for queuing) ... this rules out MediaMonkey Android if you are playing from a UPnP source, but the android Bubble UPnP app does have this feature ... MMA does also, if you are just playing from a local source
  • #2. a playlist generator which can output just one track per album ... MM could this if your criteria included something like track#=1 ... a bit of a kludge, because an album may not have a track number 1 .... I have a free MM add-on which does it better, amongst other things, like generate MM play stats at the whole album level (for play selection criteria) ... PM me if you are interested

Is it possible to create a playlist that will give you one random complete album without giving you all your albums?
For example, I would like to create an autoplaylist that generates a complete album randomly, or with the added criteria that "only if the played# is less than...x".
My hope is that this will throw up an album which I haven't heard in a while.
But the "selected fields" of the playlist creation page give you hundreds of tracks if you select "random Album". Since albums have different numbers of tracks or are different play lengths, it is hard to refine it much.
Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks
