I'm having problems with MMA and my 128 gig sd card. As described below, originally I had all kinds of problems transferring files to the SD card using sync. The sync would almost always fail and the card would become inaccessible. I had to format the card in order to make the card workable after each failed sync. After mounting the phone on a windows machine and manually copying the music files, everything seemed to go fine. MMA worked fine as a player and I didn't try to sync. This lasted for about a month.
This weekend, after not having used MMA for a week or two, I tried to use the app to play music. No songs or albums appeared in the app and the app instructed me to identify the folders I wanted to add to the library. The app could see my SD card and the folders and subfolders that held the music files, but each time a clicked on a folder to add to the library no music was found in the identified folders. When I used a file manager, Astro, to see if the files were still on the card, the files were present and intact. I used a different music app I had loaded on the phone, and it was able to play files on the card for several hours.
Two days later, I attempted to play music located on the SD card, and I couldn't access the SD card at all. My file manager now says the SD card is completely empty. However, if I hook the phone up to windows, windows file explorer says the card has the same amount of space available as the card had after I loaded the music (about a 45 gigs) but it can't find any content or read what's taking up all the space. So it appears that the files are still on the card'; they just can't be accessed.
I think MMA is the culprit, as opposed to the card, because whenever I tried to load the card by syncing it (either with MM Gold or MM Gold and MMA) I constantly got errors and all content on the card became inaccessible. Whenever I succeeded on putting files on the card, the card would become inaccessible again shortly after using MMA. In these instances, the card had to be reformatted to obtain any functionality. Only when I copied files using copy and paste was the card operable. As noted above, this worked for 4-6 weeks.
So: (1) Does anyone know what's going on and how I can avoid it?
(2) Since it looks like the music files are still on the card, does anyone know if there is anyway to make the card readable again?
(3) What's the best way of determining whether it's the card, MMA, the phone or something else which is at fault.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7, the card is a Silicon Power 128 g, and the phone is running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) with the latest version of the OS for Verizon.
Thanks
