Try to turn off the firewall briefly and check URL in browser on you phone.
If it will no not be successful, then try to change the port of MMW server, then update URL with the new port and check again in the browser.
Well, I'm now completely confused. After disconnecting from the internet and disabling the firewall I was able to sync but not able to access the URL in my browser. In that process I found a setting within Windows to change the network profile from private to public so I made that change after reconnecting the internet and firewall, and the syncing still functioned. Now I've changed the network back to private and wifi sync continues to work. I still can't access the URL in the browser though so not sure what that means.

This is all very strange. I have never changed the firewall or network settings in Windows and wifi sync worked fine for years. And now that it's back to working with the original setup, I don't understand what went wrong or what fixed it. Makes me wonder if the success will be temporary. Should I send a debug log in a working condition? Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Now I'm noticing syncing doesn't appear complete. I've run a few sync's without changing the playlist in MMW, and after the initial sync it has updated additional tracks a couple times. Then I deleted some tracks from the MMW playlist but the wifi sync isn't deleting them in MMA. Related problem?

1) Yes, agree!

5) I have another MMA device that is having the same problem so I removed that one from the list. Tried to wifi sync it and the connection fails, no permission request popped up in MMW.

Thanks, see my responses below in bold

1) UPnP can access the Media Server on MMW? It works in MMA, how would know in MMW?

2) Have you tried a PC, device and Router restart (especially Router restarts can be helpful) yes, several times

3) Check that the device is on a wifi network that is allowed to see other devices on the network (Guest networks often block this for example). This is a Router setting. I don't see an obvious way to check for that setting in my router setting, this is a home network and no settings have changed since the problem started

4) Disable the Firewall on the MMW PC (maybe disconnect Router from internet) and see if this allows MMA to see MMW. Maybe as a last resort? Again I haven't chagned any settings in my windows firewall. Can they change without my knowing?

5) Verify that your device is allowed to connect to MMW under Tools > Options > Media Sharing by Configuring the Media Server. I personally had an issue and removed most devices and then it asked permission on reconnecting to MMW. Are you referring to the UPnP/DLNA tab where devices are listed? You're suggesting select each device and click "remove", then try syncing from those devices and watch for a notification to allow connecting? Would this change any of the device settings under "Portable Device Sync"?

So:

1) UPnP can access the Media Server on MMW?

so the url http://10.0.0.104:51095/DeviceDescription.xml is not reachable from your device.
I guess it can be caused due to firewall setting.
Also, you can try to change the port of the MediaMonkey server e.g to 12561, and then edit the URL in MMA (long click on server > edit) but be careful to do not typo. Maybe a more safe way is to resave the server ((long click on server > remove, long click on server > save)).

When I tap the wifi sync server in MMA options, it goes to the next screen but there's no server to edit or re-save. It just searches and finds nothing. So at the top of that screen I tap "+" and manually add http://10.0.0.104:51095/DeviceDescription.xml Then it appears in the list but is greyed out and says "The stored media server is unavailable" If I then try the steps you suggest and remove it, it does not reappear to re-save. I have enter the url again manually. Once entered, I try to do a wifi sync but it won't connect. I also tried changing the port but still have all the same problems.

I confirmed my MMW laptop still has the same url. Not sure what else to check. When you say "firewall setting" I don't know what to check, I haven't changed any security settings anywhere throughout the time I've used MM.

Let me know what you think.

If yes, then MediaMonkey server should be visible in "Options/Wi-Fi sync/Select sync server" too (item with Sever Icon, server name, and server IP address) can you provide screenshot?

If the server is visible and you click on the server, you should be prompt to select storage, right?
After you choose storage you should get to the Sync setting if in this case MMA is connecting but the connection fails, you should also verify whether the device has allowed access to MMW in MMW/Options/Portable Device Sync/Your Device Name - Storage Name/Configure... and there check "Grant remote sync/access rights to the MediaMonkey Library".

Hi, thanks again.

I tried http://10.0.0.104:51095/DeviceDescription.xml in the web browser on my phone and it goes nowhere.

When I look at MMA "Options/Wi-Fi sync/Select sync server" it shows "MediaMonkeyLIbrary (DESKTOP-DKIP1A2)" this is my computer where MMW and library is installed. When I try to select that in MMA Options, it goes to the next screen to select server but endlessly searches and nothing appears.

My phone with MMA does have access allowed in MMW.

Let me know what is next. Thanks.

I have check all your logs.
I have one idea.
I can see that Device descriptor retrieval failed, no response from http://10.0.0.104:51095/DeviceDescription.xml
I think this was the original URL of MediaMonkey server, which is unavailable.
Can you confirm URL and port of your MMW server? (You can check it in MMW/Options/Library/Media Sharing)

You selected this item with URL http://10.0.0.11:9000/TMSDeviceDescription.xml, UDN : null
as WifiSync server but in my opinion this is not wifi sync server and the connection to this server is denied, because this is not MediaMonkey Server, but your stored UPnP server, right?
You can check it that you copy url http://10.0.0.11:9000/TMSDeviceDescription.xml to your internet browser and you should see XML file where is e.g <friendlyName> field.
This server should be not listed as WifiSync Server(this is a bug on MMA side).

Anyway, this is not a cause why you don't see or you can't connect to the MMW server
You should verify MMW URL and also copy it to the internet browser to check whether MMW is available. If this URL is also unavailable in the browser, then the issue must be outside MMA.

If you found out that the URL or port changed you can try edit the already stored MMW server in MMA or add the URL manually.
If the MMW server is available, but you still cannot connect, then verify whether your device has allowed access on MMW side.

Martin

Hi thank you. I will try to answer but my skill in this is limited! In any case, I have have never changed the Media Sharing settings or wifi sync settings after setting it up so I'm not sure why there would suddenly be a problem.

"I can see that Device descriptor retrieval failed, no response from http://10.0.0.104:51095/DeviceDescription.xml
I think this was the original URL of MediaMonkey server, which is unavailable.
Can you confirm URL and port of your MMW server? (You can check it in MMW/Options/Library/Media Sharing)"

In the Media Sharing window IP Address is 10.0.0.104:51095 . If I select that item and go to "Options", under the "Server" tab it is set as "Automatic", but in the dropdown is the location 10.0.0.104 The Port is 51095. Should I change something in MMW or MMA?

"You selected this item with URL http://10.0.0.11:9000/TMSDeviceDescription.xml, UDN : null

I believe you're right that this URL is the UPnP server. After I was having problems initially, I thought I was advised in an earlier post here to copy the UPnP addess to the wifi sync server. Maybe that was my misunderstading, but the problem started before this.

So if I paste these URL's into a web browser what am I looking for? When I paste the first one you listed I get a several lines long text string. This is just the first line: "1 0 urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1 MediaMonkey Library (DESKTOP-DKIP1A2) Ventis Media, Inc. http://www.ventismedia.com/ MediaMonkey Media Server MediaMonkey Sync Server http://www.mediamonkey.com/ 4.0 uuid:9eef1e5b-4f3b-4eee-9c55-ce32a50e9297 DMS-1.50 image/png 120 120 24 /images/platinum-120x120.png "

Please let me know what you think. Thanks again!

OK, thanks. MMA version 1.4.3.0939

Debug log id from failing to connect to "wifi sync server" in "option" screen: 9Q5GGGZSDF
Note: I never got a message saying it failed, it just continued searching endlessly, with the occasional flash of the grayed-out entry with the filepath and "The stored media server is unavailable" .

Debug log after successful connection to UPnP: FFY4YBM3ZL

Debug log after failing to perform wifi sync: UPU26CDA24
Note: screen says: "Sync incomplete. Connection failed!"
