Re: MMW synced audio as "other" in first sync

As a follow-up, I should say I just now deleted the MM app on my android and any folders/file associated with it. The music I synced a couple days ago remained on the SD card. Then, when I connnected my android phone via USB and opened MMW, it showed those files on my SD card as "Other" instead of music ... so I cannot run sync again. I will have to once again reformat the SD card. Doing that much more and I'll probably kill the SD card, which wasn't cheap.

On the MediaMonkey Wiki help pages, I see that it recommends, for a first-time sync, an SD card should be inserted into the PC and the sync initiated that way. Then, put the SD card back in the android phone and further syncs will work fine. Now, I must say the explanation on doing this is strange, indeed, when one reads the full process. It left me scratching my head.

By the way, yesterday, in an effort to resolve this issue, I deleted all the MM-related files on the phone, such as the storage .xml files and others. I thought that would clear the "memory"/cache from MMA and a new scan would pick up the audio files cleanly. Didn't work. Instead the result was I had two or three files listed for the exact same track.

I have tried my damndest to figure on syncing through MediaMonkey - for the last couple years, actually - and have gotten nowhere. I absolutely love MediaMonkey for PC, but syncing is the program's Achilles heel.

Existing help files and old video tutorials on the web are no help at all. Much too general.

Thanks, Peke. I couldn't get the second sync to work, so that was a dead-end. I re-formatted the microSD card and started all over. This time it worked. Who knows? I'm good ... for now. Thanks.

By the way, MediaMonkey is unbelievably good. However, as many others have noted, the learning curve is steep because the program is complicated because of all it does. I've been at it for several years and I'm just now figuring out sync and scanning. MM Help and the forums either don't answer the questions, or when they do, the answers are too convoluted and confusing. When I finally pretty much figured out syncing, I felt like a million bucks.

I shouldn't have to feel like a million bucks just to finally figure out a basic function.

It would be great is someone at MediaMonkey would post basic tutorial videos on YouTube or Vimeo or some similar site. The Wiki site is too basic and provides little help.

Hi,
This can happen if you are using USB Sync, so MM needs to first pair tracks and then they will show correctly on next sync.

Behavior is normal and it will be Ok after second sync.

MMW synced audio as "other" in first sync

Syncing with the MMW 4.1.26.1896 to Galaxy S10E. After my initial sync, I now need to follow up with the next one. When I do, it says there is not enough space on the device. The first sync shows 243GB of "Other" and zero audio, but I synced nothing but mp3 files with "Music" in the Type tag. Why it all shows as "Other," I have no idea. I have 123GB of free space after the first sync. I suspect that MMW is now (correctly) identifying the same files in my device profile for my second sync as "Audio" files, separate from the original files identified as "Other," and this is why it thinks there is not enough space.

I've scoured this forum and looked for online help for this, but have not found a sufficient answer.

Anyone?
