Have used MM for a few years, 12K files or so, various devices synced with subsets - all good.
My library storage device died suddenly and completely. I had backup of database, and music files - although in a different disk layout.
So I restored the database, and "Locate Moved" seemed to work fine.
I added 12 files to the library.
I attached one of my synched devices. The auto-sync filters for the device meant that about 3K of the 12K library were populated on the device.
8 of the new files qualified to be added to the 3K already there.
Started sync, and it prompted me to remove the 3K files that were there. I had no apparent way forward but to say OK and see what happened.
I did say OK ... then
EXPECTED: 8 files would be added
ACTUAL: 3000 files were deleted, and 3008 were added.
The result is OK but not ideal.
My experience with MM makes me think there must be a way to avoid all the time and disk wear.
Any ideas would be appreciated before I sync my larger devices ??
