Here is one more video organizer - http://visualsearchpony.com

It allows to find all video files on PC and present them as a list of items, accompanied with thumbnails and short descriptions. It is then allowed to quickly preview footage, play video or copy/move/delete any of the video files.

The main difference to other video file organizers is that Visual Search Pony uses content to group similar video files together.

For example, if you have some movie "The fighter" in 640x480.wmv file and recently downloaded higher resolution copy in 1280x960.avi, no matter where both of them are located, they will be put close together in the list.

Did anyone found another plugin for MM? I downloaded VID4WA, but it only reads .avi some mpegs and .wmv... Is there any way I could tag matroska (.mkv) files with Media monkey too?

I have a few strange file formats in here, but they are mostly .mkv, .mp4 and .avi (then some .rmvb and other stuff, but they are less). I have quite a collection of videos so I would like to make it faster to rename and edit them, does anyone has any other advice?

Thanks =]

Really though mediacenter is the best. You can rename based on metadata and fill in metadata based on names. It's actually a very powerful program. It seems like what MM might become if it did video, which is scary because it isn't as good. Once you incorporate video the program just seems to get too unwieldy.

Media Center 12. It's not as good as mediamonkey, but it's close, and it's the best for organizing video. AKA J river media center.

Here is a couple more:

http://www.getsongbird.com/ - This one you can edit many video tags, funny thing is you the player don't support them.
http://www.bsplayer.org/ - This one is close, Can't edit the tags yet but they have the fields there and it plays most types of videos.

I am also looking to organize my video's.
I have movies, documentaries, music video's, funny clips, religious sermons and more.
Some programs want you to organize your files only by the file description. (No I want to sort them with my audio files).
Some programs want you to organize movie video's only. (No, I have more then just movie videos on my system).
Some programs only lets you tag/edit/play some video extensions. (No, I want to play all video extensions)

At least these are some of the problems I am having.

I'm thinking of using multiple programs.
I can't seem to get any of them to do everything I want.
Here is the best I can find.

http://www.jaangle.com/ - The best for music Audio and Video. (problem: only supports some video types)
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/features.html - Good if all you want to do is look at them. (problem: Can't edit video tags)
http://www.jockersoft.com/jenius.php - Best all around one for sorting (problem: You can't sort videos with your audio by album name/tag)
http://www.cyberlink.com/products/power ... en_US.html - Never Tried (Don't look like you can tag edit)

Read the description of the script. It installs a toolbar button whereby you can click on a file, then on the button and open the file with another program. That's the closest you can get to opening video files with MM at this point in time.

How would I use that to automatically open all video files externally?

:(
I just had some hope, as Lowlander replied
You can only add video support with WinAmp plugins and as mentioned elsewhere some support additional information.
and I can't find a thread, where these ones are named.
Seems I have to follow "moiss" on my search for a MM-like movie-database.

However, thanks for your replies...

Oh you mean specific video tags? Like image size, quality and others?
Nop, can't do this with MM. The plugin will not add any specific field, as they are built-in the library.

I tried it with a fresh installation of MM 255, but I find only music-specific possibilities for tags/information.
Do I miss something for video-specific ones or do you just live with this ?

I dont use "many" video plugins anymore as sometime they conflict one with another. Video plug-in VID4WA v.2.6 is doing the job. You will find it on MediaMonkey main web page in the Add-ons/Input Plug-ins page, or you can download it directly from RC4WA.
