Sadly, all too many of the databases don't bother to include composer information, except for classical albums. Just as a check, I looked at the nearly 18000 tracks in my collection of jazz recordings that were ripped from cds and so probably used freedb (which is what MM uses) for tagging information. Over 1/3 did not have a composer. And I know that for a number of the tracks that did have composer information, I had added that information manually. In all I would say that probably over half of the tracks for which I got information from freedb did not have composer information. And I suspect that the reason for all this missing info is that most people just don't care who the composer is (again, classical music excepted). (For what it is worth, I got about the same results looking at tracks I had downloaded and which mostly would have already had tagging information added, again suggesting just how little attention is accorded composer in popular music or jazz.)
