I have experience of recovering file using Disk Drill. Disk Drill havs a very simple and easy to understand interface. It's not overly cluttered, and yet it manages to guide you clearly through the steps needed to recover your files. Once you scan a drive, it brings up a list of every file that it has found—all grouped by file type and with various columns of information to sort by. Each file has a label next to it estimating the likelihood of recovering the complete file.
Overall, the free version of the software is very useful, and looks to have other useful features that I haven't tried yet. Based on this, I would certainly consider purchasing the paid version in the future if the extra features were useful to me.

Don't worry. Here I will recommend you a useful tool, Android Data Recovery, which can help you recover your playlists on your Android phone.
If you don't know how to run this program, you can click: https://www.recovery-android.net/data-r ... songs.html
Following the guide, you can restore your important playlists as soon as possible.

Never done it myself, but you can have content synced back from MMA and I'd expect it do the trick. You set this in the Device Profile in MMW.

I'm only seeing one MM.DB file on my computer, so 3rd option doesn't look good.

I saw one or two songs in the playlists that I added last night. Other than that, empty. I'm 100% certain I didn't press delete or do anything that would obviously delete playlists. I'm absolutely, positively certain of it. But since forensics is probably impossible, and there's an auto backup script for the future, that point is moot now. My sole purpose in life is to recover. Sickening...

Is it possible to get playlists back from a synced phone?

Or is my old backup the only recourse?

You deleted them, cleared the Library or MediaMonkey is using a different database (occasionally happens).

If the latter is the problem search the entire PC (including hidden files) for MM.DB. This may help you find the correct database.

Last night I went to bed and everything was fine. This morning I woke up and all my non-auto playlists are gone.
  • My Android phone still has the playlists synced as of 2 ago. It wouldn't be terrible to have to revert to 2 days ago.
  • I have a backup of the MM library as of Oct 2015, but having to revert back this far would be a tragedy.
  • Any song added to a playlist has the "Custom 3" tag set to "phone" and will usually (but not always) be rated 4 stars or above.
  • My setup is a little out of the ordinary, but not too strange: MM is running on my Win7 box, but all the music sits on a samba share on my Linux box.
I'm numb and feel shell shocked. I've spent countless hours on these playlists. Please... can someone help me?

How in the world could this have happened?

How can I get my playlists back?

Does MM keep rotating backups of its library?
