MM is still doing it, guys.
Seems that no-one is interested in fixing it. It can't be that difficult.
I still think that MonkeyRok is playing a part in the problem. If I close MonkeyRok, then restart MM, "Now Playing" stays at the right size.

Could it possibly have something to do with skins?

After much messing around, I have finally go it to stick. Then later I changed the skin, and the problem returned.
So I have got it to stick again and am not changing my skin anymore. :(
At least until someone finds a fix.

Capture it in a debug log (step 4b) and send it to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69

OK. Got some motivation to poke around the registry today and this is what I discovered.
(For testing purposes, I've renamed my Scripts directory to Scripts-OFF, renamed and deleted MediaMonkey.ini, even reinstalled the latest MM version 4.1.4.1709 - so, I have no extra extensions or scripts active. Even using the default skin.)

This setting seems to be kept in this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Interface\V4\Toolbars\TBXPlaylistDock

And specifically the String Value:
DPDockedHeight

When I resize the playlist docked at the bottom of my window (for example, 10 rows high) and then close MediaMonkey, this registry value changes to: 247

When I restart MediaMonkey, the height of the playlist reverts to its 3 row "default" as per usual for me.

If I leave the playlist at this 3 row height and close MediaMonkey, the registry value changes to: 111

Repeated this several times trying different heights and it consistently saves the value on close, but reverts to 3 row height on restart.

I also tried deleting this registry key and restarting MM, which places the playlist at the default location of docked right and full height.
Closing MM rebuilds the registry key value.
Restart and move the playlist to bottom window dock position, resizing to 10 rows high.
Close MM which updates the registry value.
Restart and its back to 3 rows.

So it seems to me that MediaMonkey is "writing" the proper setting value to the registry, but just not "reading" from the same value at start up. But only the height value, and only when it is docked at the bottom.

Anyone got any other ideas I can try?

You can rename the Scripts folder in the Program Files\MediaMonkey folder (to something like Scripts-off) and then start MediaMonkey to start without any scripts. If the behavior is no longer occurring it likely is an Addon causing problems.

Galdoran, killing your add-ons, observing, and then reinstalling one by one is a good idea.
I'm curious though, do you have a lot of uncommon add-ons?

I have had the same issue for a long time.
Check the forum every once in a while when it starts annoying me again, and came across this post.
I have tried removing MonkeyRok, moving the Now Playing to different areas to "lock in height", nothing ever works.
As soon as I move it to bottom of screen position and restart, it resets to only showing 3 rows.

I do have a lot of extensions installed, so I guess I'll try to spend a day disabling them all and adding back in one-by-one or something.

It's not a huge deal, just annoying. I don't close MM that often anyways. :)

Yeah, that's an odd one. I've had similar things happen through the years , but nothing that ever lasted too long.

I think nohitter meant, if you think it is MonkeyRok, you can temporarily fix it by not using it for a while to see if it shows up again.
After a while, reimplement MR and if behavior continues report issue/bug to MonkeyRok.

If you checked to see if the process in the task manager is terminating naturally "after" you exit out of the interface
and it persists, something mysterious is going on. :-?

good luck and let us know if anything changes.

Yes, I think the latest MonkeyRok update is causing it.
Ok so you answered your own question then.
My question is: how to fix it?
I didn't answer that, as far as I can see. :-?

But don't worry about it.
I thought it was an easy fix in the past. I must be mistaken.

Position now playing window on right side of top dock put the 3 column browser to the left side of the top dock.
this will lock in the height of the np list. It will allow for a higher one but if you show the option bar of the np list that will again limit the view area of the np list. I have this in mm 3 so it's been in mm awhile.

Any more ideas, guys?

Is Rusty around?
I know someone on this forum had a simple fix in the past.

Hi Lowlander.

Yes, MediaMonkey closes on exit.

As I said, I have had this issue a few years ago, and it was an easy fix, but I can't remember what it was now.
