I used to have my database on a NAS, but found it pretty much unusable - lots of errors that were not fixable. It seems to be down to the way that the database works, and so there's nothing that I could do about it.
What I now do is backup my database to the NAS, and then use that as the master copy. I usually only use one computer for playback, but if I want to use another I can just copy the most recent database from the NAS. It's not ideal, but it works, which running the database off the NAS didn't, for me.
But good luck if you want to try.
