This is a known issue with MediaMonkey 3 and you will need to use MediaMonkey 4 if you have Internet Explorer 9 installed as this bug has been resolved in MediaMonkey 4: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6489

MediaMonkey 4 beta builds: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=54426

I have been using MM for years now and the bugs present are highly disappointing. Constant freezes upon resizing auto-tag from web window. When I resume from pause after minimal idling time the song just skips around. Also when interacting with MM at all after minimal idling the entire program freezes for ~10 seconds...

I am about to downgrade back to an earlier version. This is ridiculous. Also, I have downloaded the debug version, posted my logs, and MM continues to send me emails about how they are closing the incident even though I reply back with a resounding "NO IT IS NOT SOLVED". I am really really really not looking forward to going back to winamp but this is nearly unusable. No other programs of mine behave this way.

Potential work-around/fix?

Okay, I have been having the same issue with the current stable release of MediaMonkey. I am a web master for a non-profit and need to have the latest browsers installed so was dismayed to have to use the non-themed version. I deleted and reinstalled MM so I could regain theme usage and accidentally stumbled upon a possible fix. I do not understand why this works but here it goes...

Start MM and before you do anything else, maximize the window by clicking the icon in the upper right (e.g. the square next to the red X).

Now, click this icon again to return MM to the previous window size.

Using the resize grippie in the upper right hand corner (again by the red X, or close icon) resize MM to the desired size. This is a diagonal resizer so you can do both vertical and horizontal resizing.

For some reason, when I did this and use the resize grippie in the upper right of the window, I can resize MM 3 with IE 9 installed all day long. I will add that this is on a Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 system and your results may vary based on your OS.

I wanted to share this with everyone since I have seen a lot of frustrated users in the forums. I will add that I was one of them but understand the developers not wanting to take precious time away from MM 4. Hopefully this solution works for everyone.

Come to think of it, I did install MM4 (latest beta) first and opted to go back to MM 3 for stability reasons. I am thinking some remnants of MM4 may be left that is aiding MM 3 with the IE 9 incompatibility. Just a thought...

Sorry for the follow-up, but would turning all but the default MM theme get me up and running?

(I guess I could try it myself but as long as I'm here I'll ask a follow-up questions.)
It's already confirmed in this thread that unskinned MM does not crash with ie9.

But there are references in this forum to some ActiveX plug-in in IE9 that's causing the problem? If that's the case, what plug-in is causing the problem and why can't I just temporarily disable it?

I like both MM3.2.4 and IE9 and I'm not fond to have to chose between them ...

I've reopened http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6489

because I can reproduce on my system.

I just tried installing 3.2.5.1306 and the issue still exists.

Actually I left out an important detail. It doesn't happen when you re-size the main window. It is when you right click on a song and pick Auto-tag from web and then try and re-size that window. Then MM hangs.

IE9 is version 9.0.8112.16421.

Running as administrator does not help.

Try also to start MM as Administrator.

Mediamonkey crashes every time you try and resize the window. I do not have MonkeyRok and as far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with it. Definitely an issue with IE9 and the current release of Mediamonkey.

Unless of course you are saying you are no longer supporting Mediamonkey 3.
According to the bug tracker, the issue is not reproducible with the latest version of IE9 (9.0.8112.16421) and MM 3.2.5. If that's not your experience, then please post some more details about which build of IE9, upgrade to latest MM, etc...

oldbwl,
May I ask you to PM exact Policy and needs you are requested for and before you are allowed to use some app on Work@home PC?

MusicBringer,
Same goes for you too I'm not sure what you are referring exactly to?

oldbwl wrote:I understand you, and your reasoning could make sense, but for space reasons I didn't type out all the facts (see below now). I am grateful for the response too. This is always a helpful and friendly place. But I am unhappy, and nothing you say can help with that - indeed the contrary is the case.

The developers have NOT addressed the issue. If they had it would no longer be happening on MY software. I am not reporting bugs so they can be fixed in another product ie MM4. I bought MM3 - I paid the Lifetime because I did not know what shape or form MM4 or 5 etc would take at that time and I wanted to provide my support to the fullest extent.

I really object to the overall tone now. Effectively I am told, if you want this to go away you have to wait for an indefinite period and use a different program with a different set of features. I had to go through a significant testing process to get permission for MM3 on my works machine, I am not going to go through all that again just to load its replacement when MM3 does - or that should read 'did' exactly what I wanted.

So to restate my case. There is a problem in MM3 and it is MM3 I want to use, not MM4 - particularly as that vers contains video capabilities which for my PC almost certainly makes it a no go install for our management, making the solution offered useless. - Even MS media players have been stripped from our work@home PC's and we are regularly audited.

It appears there is no appetite to resolve the issue in MM3, it's MM4 or nothing. For me that has to be nothing. If you think that being unhappy at losing my favourite piece of software, which went a long way to making my day a bit less of a drudge is unreasonable, then OK, the cap fits.
oldbwl, even if your words were spoken in frustration, I think you are speaking for many of us MM3 users.
For many many months we have been reassured that the fixes will be out soon. I think we all were reasonably expected something for last Christmas, but no. We are now in second quarter of this year, and..., well, and nothing.
