Worked great once I had enough sense to turn off the G: drive so it HAD to find the new location. Thanks a lot for your help. Kathy

go to the playlist node
select the all accessible files playlist

when it shows in the listview area, go to the menu bar and click on edit. then click on select all.

now you can click on find missing files and it should look for all of them., should but that is going to take
time if you have large library it might also crash the computer if you don't have a fast enough cpu or have
enough ram.

so it is always a good idea to select small groups of the songs to start and slowly add a few to the next group
until you see monkey start to slow down too much then you know you've put too much in that last group.

:)

I am having a similar problem. My old computer died but not the hard disc. I have the old hard disc hooked up to my new computer as Drive G: Both computers are/were Windows 7 64 bit and I have the latest MediaMonkey Gold. I copied all the music to my new C: Drive and downloaded MM again. I moved the MM.DB file as suggested and now it works great except it is reading the music from the G: Drive and I would like to get it to read from the C: Drive. I see the script for changing drives BUT the problem I have is that in the G: Drive my User Folder is named "Kathy Desktop" for some reason that I can't remember and in the C: Drive it is named "Kathy" so the file paths will not be the same. I guess I could create another User called Kathy Desktop for my music but this seems like it shouldn't be necessary. Any ideas of how to move the file location in this scenerio. I did try the "locate moved file" idea but nothing happened. Do I have to do this one song at a time?? It said to pick at least one song, and I don't know how to select the entire library, maybe if I did that would work. Kathy

Only Think I was missing From Bootable CD/USB is Advanced Features of Acronis disk Director or Partition Commander Utils from its Boot CD.

Yeah, but with Windows 7, you don't need Acronis True Image anymore.
The system image utility in Windows 7 is superb, in my opinion. And very fast.

Have anyone Heard of Acronis True Image?

I Switched Tens Of HDDs over the years myself, along hundreds for friends and business, with 99.9% success (1 HDD Died During Clone+Resize). So Acronis True Image is I MUST Have app in my collection.

It has always been the Change Drive ID script method advised.
Because like I said in my first post, it doesn't work all of the time. I'm not sure why.

Sure, just copy the DB over and then use "Locate moved/missing tracks" on the new PC.
And all your history/play count is saved?
Yes, of course. The whole point is that the same database references have updated file paths.

I hope this facility is built in to MediaMonkey 4.
This is simply not good enough for people having to do this every time they change drives.

Just my opinion.
I agree 100000000000%.

Technically it is already in MM4 (and MM3, and MM2, etc.) using the "Locate moved/missing tracks" feature. It's just unfortunate that it doesn't always work.

Thank you very much. Should've asked first.
