MM 4.1.18 crashes after double clicking a song [#14466]

Hi there,

since I've installed the new version 4.1.18 I had a couple of crashes of the software. It happens occasionally when I make a double click to a song in a line of the song list (because I want to play it). => MM crashes completely.

I suppose that the crash occurs sequently after editing a song tag directly in the song list.

Here is the error footprint of Windows (unfortunately in German):

Update to the latest beta from the Beta Forum as it fixes the tag and playback crash.

Continual crashes in Windows

I just updated to the new version, and every since MediaMonkey is closing after a couple minutes with no warning.

I am on Windows 8.1 and running the new version I installed yesterday (4.1.18.1853) and I'm a Gold User. Sometimes when I restart the program I get a Windows security prompt about MediaMonkey wanting to make changes to my computer (I say yes). I tried uninstalling and re-installing and that didn't help. Sometimes it is open for a few minutes and can play a song, sometimes it crashes within a few seconds of opening the program.

I think I sent a bug report (it crashes sometimes while I'm trying to submit).

Thanks.

Please download and install 4.1.19.1854 from the beta forum:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 15#p439970

It should fix the issues. Please report once it doesn't fix the issues reported here.

Thanks!

I installed 4.1.18 yesterday, and immediately started seeing the same error, so on this advice went ahead and updated to 4.1.19.1854.

No joy. Here, it just blows randomly, usually while playing the first song or almost as often right after moving on to the next track, while playing in the background.

Running Windows 7x64.

The capture this in a debug log (step 4b) as the beta works for others and attach the log to a Support Ticket: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=7&t=341

For those experiencing this issue: are you clicking the track within MediaMonkey ? or within Windows Explorer?

Tracking this at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=14466

Thanks.

I have the same problem when importing my huge library (more than 5000 songs). I tried the beta as said here, no changes. I tried to add file little by little, still crashes at some point. I have another computer that run an earlier version 4.1.16.1836 and the import works just fine. Is there a way to download an earlier build when everything worked fine ?

Done, thanks.

Playing within MediaMonkey. Doesn't seem to matter if I double-click a track, or right-click/play a track, or right-click/play a folder, to start the playback. Not seen it happening with any sort of tag operation. Nearly always happens shortly after (5-10 seconds) a new track starts playing. Rarely on the first track played.

Just came back to say that I managed to find the v4.1.16.1836 and there are no more crashes, I can acces my entire library without any crash.

I installed the beta version and I'm still having the crashing problem. The song plays for a few minutes but then MediaMonkey crashes.

Hi, for all that can replicate the crash in 4.1.19.1854. Could you please replace your current id3lib.dll in the MM install folder by this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/14jnunmf10ak7 ... b.dll?dl=0
and tell us whether it solves the issue?

Thanks!

Cautiously optimistic! I've made the swap, and played entirely through a highly problematic album** without a crash. Onto another now that's also triggered the crashes. Will try to play as much as possible over the next 24 hours, and update my bug report with findings, either way. (Sooner if the crash returns, of course.)

** I did find the crashes seem related to given folders of MP3s. Seemed I'd "fixed it" myself, following a reboot, until I went back and replayed a folder that had previously "caused" the crash and it returned. The real oddity is, it's unrelated to specific tracks! Couldn't consistently force-replicate the issue, other than by playing certain folders/albums all the way through... The crash would then occur randomly as MM moved from one track to the next.
