Thanks for the feedback - good to hear it's not exclusively down to me then. But the mystery is that, as you see from his comments earlier, nohitter does not get this problem.

Just to be sure: You can save all the other tags like albumname, artist, title, year etc. without any problem to your tracks?
(Only the covers will not be saved?)

Only the option 'iTunes Album' display this question about cover art:
Image
But it doesn't save it to my tags and it doesn't save it as single picture file in the same directory (if choosen from the above dialogue). :o

Some hours later...
What I've found so far:
1.) The script doesn't work with tracks not stored in the MediaMonkeys database. If you try to identify and tag tracks from a node like 'My Computer' it can not work, because the script is looking for the internal database ID of the track. This ID is only availabe, if the song was previously inserted into the database.
2.) If you have added/rescanned the tracks to library (=database), you have to be sure that
a) You have to set your options for the Artwork Image Location to: "Save image to tag (if possbile) otherwise save to file folder"
If you set it to "Save image to file folder" you will see a temporary path for the picture while hoovering over the artwork in the file properties. This may be a bug, I'm not yet sure...
b) All the iTunesMonkey options (iTunes Album, iTunes Match, iTunes Search, iTunesMonkey) will save your artwork into your songs, if you press the little grey circle on the upper left corner. But you have to confirm this process on the dialogue box and the press OK once finished.
c) The fastest way to store the artwork - only the artwork! - to all your selected songs is to double-click on the artwork. This will save the artwork immediately and even without pressing the button "Auto-Tag" directly to your songs.
d) If you activate the option
Tools -> Options -> Library -> Tags & Playlist -> Tags (on the right side): Update tags when editing properties
your artwork (and all other edited tags) will saved automatically to your songs. If not, you have to synchronize it manually (Pressing CTRL-S on the selected songs).

Well, I re-installed but the problem remains unchanged. I cannot get any art with this add-on, either tagged (embedded) or in an external file.

Can you please describe all the detailed work flow steps you take compared to those I illustrated up-thread:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/401 ... -ITM-1.jpg

I get no result by double clicking the art in this window:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/401 ... ple-04.jpg

Also, do you get accurate results, unlike me? I've provided examples earlier, but my latest is shown here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/401 ... ple-06.jpg

I've spent many hours on this over the last week or so and am ready to give up on it!

See the post above yours, apparently the addon will only tag albums that are in the MM library. Are these files in the library?

You don't see any visible change, it will just be saved 'behinde the scene'.
terrypin wrote:Also, do you get accurate results, unlike me? I've provided examples earlier, but my latest is shown here
I have cleared all the tags from all songs in BECK's "Morning phase" album (and doublechecked the tracks with Mp3tag). They are completely empty.
Then I have added this album to the MediaMonkey database.
Accordingly, you only find this songs in your library by activating the column 'Added' and sorting in descending order.
The 'iTunesMonkey'-mode find this selected 13 tracks immediately (thanks to the genius integrated fingerprinting recognition).
A doubleclick on the coverart saves the frontcover - without any visible change - to the database (and depending on your options also to your files).
Pressing the Auto-Tag Button saves all the other selected metadata (artist, album, track#, title etc.) to the database (and depending on your options also to your files).

About the colors of the progress bar:
If you hoover over a single progress bar, you get the result in numbers, like "33% ignored" in orange or "66% successfull" in blue.
iTunesID and iTunesMatch are completely orange = 100% (13 ignored). The reason: My files doesn't have any Apple iTunes information in the tags.
Fingerprint, Acoustid, iTunes Search and iTunes Artwork are completely blue = 100% (13 successful). The reason: All the 13 tracks have been successfully processed to create a fingerprint, a lookup on AcoustID, a Search on iTunes for metadata and Artwork.

MMuser2011: Are you therefore now getting correct operation of the add-on, including art, despite your earlier post? Not a file in \Windows\TEMP ?

You didn't answer my question about accuracy. I too get an accurate result for the Beck album, as I said. What about other arbitrary albums? Especially those from the 20th Century?

I'd still like to see some other users of this add on list their detailed steps so that I can see if I'm making some basic mistake.

But one thing seems clear: this sure is not a no brainer two-click wizard! Reckon I'll stick with Amazon and plain vanilla Google.

Yes.
In my earlier post it was my fault to try this addon with tracks from 'My Computer' node.
And it is important to set the options as I wrote in 2a.

I don't own your "The best of the best 2010" or "Al Jonson - The Jazzsinger" or "Fats Domino - Blueberry Hill" album. Therefore I can't answer it for this albums. Do you have other albums that I can try?

You can check if your albums are available in the source for "iTunesMonkey" mode:
Example: "Film Music, Volume 1" from Ralph Vaughan Williams has the MusicBrainzID http://musicbrainz.org/release/2a346421 ... a8e4960672
If you click on the title like the first track #1 "I. Main Titles", you see the second tab "Fingerprints". Click on it an you see the 'Associated AcoustIDs': http://musicbrainz.org/recording/c716c6 ... ngerprints

If the calculated fingerprint of your copy of this first song is equal to the above fingerprint, it will be found automatically.
If there is no fingerprint at all* or if the fingerprint doesn't match, you're out of luck.

My copy of this album was detected in less then 5 seconds. I can't tell you about the other albums, I don't own them.

* like for the available release Fantazm by John La Barbera Big Band: http://musicbrainz.org/release/a32cc6db ... 35d4077a73

It's some weeks since I used it (gave up as I had too many time-consuming problems) but, yes, I do recall that it was very slow.

iTunesMonkey doesn't seem to work anymore. When I do iTunes Album, it just sits there forever Searching...

This makes me very sad because this was the best plugin for retrieving iTunes metadata. I don't know why it suddenly doesn't work anymore. Before, I could tell it was working because it would take a while to find results, often several moments, and during that time if I clicked into another application, the Auto-Tag window would go (Not Responding) until it retrieved results. i.e., it would block until it was finished. It doesn't do that anymore either.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the addon, MediaMonkey itself, and even tried rolling back to earlier versions of MediaMonkey. Nothing worked. :(

Does anyone know of another auto-tag addon that uses the iTunes search API?
