Bug in Update to CDPlayer.ini

Post by klaus »

MM 2.3.1.834 makes incorrect update of an inserted CD to CDPlayer.ini. It is NOT the CDReader plugin, I removed it for that test.
The keyword "numtracks=" is missing and the year 2001 is written as year=-1. If numtracks= is missing some other payer programs report problems and the wrong year cannot retrieved by MM itself.
If more information is needed, let me know.

cdplayer.ini not correct

Post by rusty »

Klaus,

I would appreciate a bit more info:

1) re. missing numtracks: which apps depend on this information (I'm tempted to defer a fix to this post 2.3)

2) re. incorrect year: how did you trigger this behaviour. In my tests, year is always looked up correctly (it would be helpful if you show the exact format of the cdplayer.ini entry before and after the bug).

thx.

1. Recreate YEAR=-1 in CDPlayer.ini (abbrev.as CDP)
My setup uses JeFCo to lookup the CD data in the local FreeDB.
Have any CD in CDROM drive:

- delete entry in CDP or use empty CDP
- delete entry in MM datbase
- delete entry in JeFCos database
- click on CD in My Computer in MM
- from main menu use TOOL, Get album info from freedb
- JeFCo indicates that CD has been found in local freedb (I am not online)
- Edit CDP with NotePad or a real editor
The year=-1

The local FreeDB entry for this CD did not have the line DYEAR=2001
So it seems that something goes wrong on the interface between JeFco and MM.

If MM does an online lookup without JeFCo the data are correct but then I don't have the entry in my local FreeDB. I need access to the local FreeDB for my own samplers which will never be in the remote FreeDB.

2. Missing numtracks=
I have left on my system currently only one application which requires this keyword. It is CDPIE, which is a very handy editor for the CDP. I don't want to investigate which players may fail if the numtracks= is missing. I just thought it is a required keyword in the CDP.

Klaus,

Out of curiousity, was this working prior to MM 2.3?

I just tested with MM 2.2.1.757 - it is the same problem.
