Remove ID3 Tags From FLAC Files

Post by dypsis » Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:18 am

Does anyone know of a script that will remove ID3 tags from FLAC files.

I have found that EAC adds ID3 tags to FLAC files when encoding.

I use another tagger to tag my FLAC files with FLAC tags, but the ID3 tags are remaining from EAC.

Thanks for your reply Peke.
I am looking for a method that will not be too much manual work. Regarding EAC. I cannot see any setting to add FLAC tags.

But I found a method to remove ID3 tags that are with FLAC files. It is not perfect, but the easiest and the least amount of work that I have found so far.

When use Mp3tag to remove ID3 tags, it removes all tags including the FLAC tag. But if you choose Undo, it restores FLAC tags only. The only thing that I have noticed that isn't restored is the cover art. So you will need to restore that manually.

If anyone knows a better way, I would be interested.

Seems that Tag can do it. But I haven't tried it yet.

There is a discussion about it here.

Edit: For the record. I tried Tag, and it worked brilliantly. I made a batch file to tag all flac files in a folder. Works great, without any lost FLAC tag data, and no change to the date and time.

Best Solution would be Advanced Tagging Option to list/fix Known issues of Corrupted tag Formats like ID3 in Flac.
