Beta 2: Logitech G15 display still doesn't work perfect

Post by PoooMukkel »

I know, that there is another topic yet, but not for the Beta 2. ;)

I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 Bit and the Logitech G15 V1.04 driver. The Logitech Media Display sometimes shows the information in the correct way: 1. Artist, 2. Title, 3. Timescale. But sometimes only 2 information are displayed: 1. Artist, 2. Timescale. I can't figure out, why it is only sometimes... :(

Does anyone has a solution for this bug? Is this a known bug, which will be fixed in a next release?

Ok, I will test it, but I remember testing it already and it didn't work correctly too... Have to test again... :)

EDIT:
I downloaded "Winamp Visual System 0.30.4" to C:\WVS and started "WinampVisSys.exe". In my G15 now appears that I should start WinAmp. Ok, I started MM3 but WVS didn't detect MM3. In MM3-Dir you can find a file called "Winamp.exe". I tried to start this file, but WVS didn't detect it too... :(

What do I have to do, to get WVS working together with MM3 and my G15?? Please help!

If for some reason you haven't already.. theres a folder (..\WVS\bin\CopyToWinampPlugins\) with two DLLs that should go to the MediaMonkey.

If you've already done that.. I saw a start.bat file with this inside:

Code: Select all

start wa.exe
call "D:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe"
Try changing that to point to your MediaMonkey app, but I dont think that will do much good. Chances are that the program is coded to Winamp.exe -or- if you're lucky, you could configure the plugin's to point to the program to run.

1. Make Script As described in This Post

2. Copy vis_wamp.dll and gen_wamp.dll to <MediaMonkey>\plugins Folder

3. Start MM and As Visualization plugin set myLCD

4. Start Visualization each time you start MM and All will work like charm except few bugs I have found (Plugin do not deactivate Media Keys on G15 or I do not know how)

It would be really cool if mm3 natively supported the display (ie had it's own included plugin).

Last I saw, the SDK was freely available and I would expect it be relatively simple (for plugin/progammer types) to build a quicky plugin specificaly for MM rather than trying to rely on hacking in unsupported winamp plugins.

Thanks, I will test this later, when I'm home...

@TwiztidSinz
Thanks too. I'll test this, if Peke's solution will not work. :)

Ok, it works for me now with MYLCD. But can I turn of the flickering from the keys? That makes me nervous...

Do this when you see Track playing:
press first or second custom keys (above previous button) and navigate to G15 Settings, Scroll down to G15 Lights, press third, use scroll to set it as disabled, press forth button to apply changes ad no more flashing :)

Tip: All settings to myLCD can be found in file winamp.dat (same folder with WA.EXE).

Thank you. I'll try this workaround until support is added.

When I edit the settings in the winamp.dat, there is no changes in mylcd. I closed MM and changed settings, but it had no effect... :(

So I have to do it directly onto the G15.

EDIT:
I did it. I changed the settings and now it works perfect... :)
But I still have one question: Everytime I start MM3, I have to start visualization manually. Is it possible, to let MM3 start the visualization automatically?

MM do not emulate all Winamp features so for Now you need to manually start visualization each time. I will look if there is safe and easy way to emulate Winamp calls to start visualization.

That would be very nice... Thanks a lot.

Now I have a G15 plugin that works for me... :)

Actually the settings are saved in 'profile.cfg', but only once the 'Save now' option has been applied at the bottom of the config screen.
Next version of WVS will auto start with MM, ie, no script required.

Just to clear some confusion: WVS is the applet/program and myLCD is an external LCD library which WVS is using to access the hardware.
