songs breaking up- do i have too many songs....

I just downloaded MM. I put 4000 songs into the library and it played fine and then i got on the internet and it played slow with songs breaking up....i think it's my computer but i dont have this problem with WINAMP........ can you help?

Please explaine what playing slow means.
By breaking up do you mean short <1sec. interuption in music playing. And if so does this happen when you click links and open/close windows?
What version of MM and what OS are you using?

Another question might be ... is what other disk activity was going on while the song was slow? For example, if your computer is also busy downloading files and there is a lot of disk IO, this would explain why the song played slow.
