WiFi Sync MMA Converts M4A to Mp3? [#20137]

https://nsaneforums.com/topic/441765-da ... -2016-aac/, this is the album. It's interesting because using my HEOS app on the phone allows me to play M4A from my PC on my Marantz NR1711?
Is this a setting in MM5 that allows syncing M4A? Or, is MMA unable to play M4A?

Is this a setting that's obvious? I took a quick look. I did not see anything. i.e. Sync Profile? Set formats? I have never used these settings before. I can see that M4A is a supported format for my phone?

Hi,
Check properties of one of converted files, maybe device do not play ALAC or bitrate is to low/hi which triggers conversion.

[This is starting to get complicated] Where you have "ALAC", did you mean "AAC"? If you follow the link I provided above, "A very good album this now encoded in aac" [from the uploader]. The downloaded files were M4A files all having bit rates higher than 320 as with MP3. As far as for the MP3 files on the phone - I don't know.
EDIT: Maybe another remote session?

The files are likely not in Supported Formats. This bit is a bit more complicated as you have file extensions and codecs. A file extension could have different codecs. You'll need to figure out exactly what codecs are used, make sure they're enabled in Supported Formats and then hope your device can actually play them.

ALAC = Apple Lossless Audio Codec, M4A = like Lowlander said is Container format which can contain multiple codecs.

Open Support ticket and we can arrange something. I would be glad to get to bottom of it.

Hi,
Yes, but only for new profiles unfortunately. Existing profiles needs to be manually edited.

Can you explain what you mean by "Existing profiles"? We were talking about forced conversion of one format to MP3 on the phone during WiFi Sync?

Hi,
It means that old profiles still do not detect higher quality M4As as supported as device, you need to manually set M4A support to all bitrates.
