.ac3: Analyze Volume starts playing in a ghost prog.

Post by Timo_Beil »

Codec: Winamp-AC3
1. Select a ac3 file in MM
2. Context>Analyze Volume
3. File starts to play (not controllable by MM, additional to a playing track)
User must logoff to stop it (or wait until it ends), there is no programm in the taskmanager that seems to be responsible for that.
(After renaming the file to .wav, Volume Analyze runs fine, but steals the filesize)

It seems this old AC3 plugin is responsible for that. It is not only decoding plugin, but it also plays the file itself. Analyze volume feature needs to decode audio and analyze it, but this plugin plays it instead. I am afraid, we cannot do anything with this.

DTS as .ac3: Flaw with Volume analysis (Winamp-ac3)

Post by Timo_Beil »

I'm using MM5 with the WinampAC3 plugin.
That works fine exept until I start the volume analysis.
Every .ac3 file is played in the background, additionally to the actual playing track, until MM notices that he cannot analyze something. There is no chance to stop it.
Is there a way to circumvent this behaviour?

Hi,
To clarify, it is third party plugin and if there is a source for it, along with developer allowing us to make changes freely, then maybe we can do something about it, but even then please consider that MM plan is to move on other platforms so investing lots of time in limited usage makes it lower priority :(

Also I personally prefer Lossless multi channel FLAC over AC3, which is Video Audio codec more than standalone Audio codec.
