Post by Peke »

Hi,
Here is what I have Done:
1. Created playlist in MM5
2. Synced playlist to MMA
3. Changed Playlist in MM5 (Deleted all previous tracks and added few new)
4. Synced with MMA (it got updated)
5. Added few more tracks and changed order
6. Synced to MMA (playlist got updated)

What am I missing?
Best regards,

  1. Create a smart playlist in MMW5.
  2. Adjust metadata as needed to get two or more items into it
  3. Sync
  4. Play or adjust metadata in MMA to cause all but one item to be removed from the smart playlist
  5. Sync
  6. Play or adjust metadata in MMA on that last item to cause it to be removed from the smart playlist
  7. Sync

Hi,
As it is Smart Playlist Second sync should update MMA playlist with new tracks or remove rest except one. At least taht happens to me when I follow your steps.

The third sync should result in the playlist being empty on both sides of the sync, MMW and MMA. It is not, it's only emptied in MMW; MMA still shows that last track.

Hi,
MMW Do not sync Empty Playlists, MMA retain its last state till you add new tracks to playlist. It is by design. MMW/MMA deletes all playlists when you delete content on device on each sync. You can't have both as if MMW sync empty playlists you can end up with hundreds of ghost playlists (Like me).

Strange. I'm not seeing the behavior of the last track failing to be removed from the playlist. I'm seeing:

- Re-syncing an (auto)playlist that has been updated from x tracks to 0 tracks deletes the playlist on the device initially and then on subsequent syncs, it resyncs the empty playlist (this is a bug tracked at https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18526 )
- Syncing an (auto)playlist with 0 tracks syncs the playlist with 0 tracks in it (as it probably should)

IMO, this is unexpected behavior that presents as a bug.

The playlist exists with no content in MMW as it should in this situation. I do not want the playlist deleted from the system as it is a Smart Playlist that can auto-populate as content and meta-data change. MMA should directly mirror this.

I am not even seeing an option in the sync profile settings or main settings in MMW to delete empty playlists. But as stated elsewhere, I do not want the empty playlists to be deleted, I want them to be empty.

As soon as playlist gets repopulated it will be sent to MMA on Sync. At least it do on my tests.

Hi,
There is no setting. For me as soon as playlist contain a single track it will be synced to MMA.

No, the other way. I cannot find a setting to remote empty playlists from MMA.

The option to delete playlists in MMA is in Options > Library & Sync > Wi-fi Sync:Sync settings > Delete from device [None | Unselected server files | All unselected files ]

The latter 2 options delete files and playlists from the device.

Making that change now. Playlist in question still has about a dozen tracks in it that I'm slowly listening to, so it'll be a few days.

Faster than I thought. I have another playlist that shows as empty in MMW. This is the sync setting in MMA for "MediaMonkey Library (PC Name)". I note that there is also a "MediaMonkey Server (PC Name)" that has no WiFi sync settings.

That playlist shows 16 tracks in MMA and zero in MMW, after making this change.
