Alpha 4 Localization update

Post by rusty »

Just a short note about Alpha 4 and localization:

First of all, I just wanted to give another big THANK YOU to everyone that's contributed to translating MediaMonkey. As of Alpha 4, it's available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese (brazilian), and Czech!!

Alpha 4 includes minor updates to a number of the English source strings. Nothing too major, though. I expect that there'll be some more significant changes as missing MM 2.2 features get added into future alphas.

With the release of alpha 4, I've also updated the localization instructions to account for the fact that portions of the installation still aren't localized. This is due to the fact that portions of the installer itself aren't localized. This generally applies to just 1-2 lines of text in each language. Unfortunately, the installer uses a different localization tool than MediaMonkey, however, it should be fairly easy to make the changes.

More details appear in section 8 of the updated instructions at:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/contrib/loca ... ctions.txt

The updated sources appear in their usual location at:

Hi rusty,

The new strings version perfectly match the alpha4!

The remaining (minor) issues i identified are:
- Player, tooltip "open file"
- album browser & main window: contextual menu, "restore"
- Still no tooltips related to min/max/close buttons of the main frame
- Options|Library: "ignore tracks shorter than XX Kb" ("Kb" is missing or hidden)
- Options|Previews: "preview length XX sec" ("sec" is missing or hidden)

I will send you the french localization update this evening (GMT+1).

Octopod,

thanks for the list, all will be ok in the next release. The only exception are tooltips for min/max/close buttons. Due to the way how this part works they must be shown directly by Windows and thus the language of Windows installation is used. It isn't planned to change this any soon.
