Drakinite's Undock Panels add-on might help for you.

It currently supports undocking of "Now Playing", "Lyrics" and "Playlists".

I also like to have nicely displayed album art, and I've spoken to him and he was considering adding support to also undock the "Album Art" window. For those with a multi monitor setup you could have your album art filling a window on an auxiliary monitor.

If this would help you, maybe drop him a line letting him know you would also find undocking of "Album Art" also useful.

Here is another way to reproduce this issue:

Any time the left panel is expanded to make the album art appear its maximize size, click either:

1. Music -> All Tracks (I have over 30,000 tracks)
2. Any play list that lists significant content

Allow it to remain on either of the above lists for a few minutes (less than twenty; fifteen minutes should do it). After a couple of song switches, click Playing and see that the left panel is expanded with the album art being very small. This is related to the original issue I was posting. The app used to simply shrink the left panel to its smallest size along with small album art. Now it is maintaining the left panel size but not expanding the album art.

It's marked as fixed now, and my last example is still happening with version 5.1.0.2832.
