BT metadata Lost when going to next track [#20545]

Post by aquadan12 »

Phone: Pixel 8 Pro
Vehicle: 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid
MMA Version: 2.0.0.1152
Bluetooth AVRCP Version: 1.6 (issue observed on 1.4 and 1.5 as well)
Log ID: R4M7NPNLBN -- submitted via MMA app

Images below show some versions and settings

Observed Issue
When initially connecting to bluetooth in my car, whatever song starts playing usually has the proper metadata showing (can see the album art, album, length of track, etc.). Whenever going to the next track, metadata gets dropped and stays dropped. I can no longer see the album art, album name, or length of the track. Not sure if anything else gets dropped, that's mainly what is visible. Clicking next again, the metadata is still gone for that track as well.

Tried different versions of Bluetooth AVRCP, but no change. Youtube Music does not have this issue so definitely seems to be a MMA issue.

I found this post: viewtopic.php?p=509546#p509546
where "2) Artwork appears only for the first track and not subsequent tracks" was mentioned. This seems to be the issue I'm having (along with other data)

First image looks good. Metadata displays as it should

Then when clicking to next track -- metadata is lost

Sometimes I can go specifically select a track and metadata will fix itself like below:

But same issue occurs where going to next track (either letting song play out or clicking next), metadata is lost:

Hi,
Are you sure that those tracks contain correct metadata on MMA as from pictures I se ethat Album is classified as UNKNOWN ALBUM in which case it will not show Album art. Also Artist and Tite are ok?

Yes I'm very sure. I use MM to manage my music and all those ones I posted have all their metadata. Such as "The Acacia Strain" songs are all organized into the same album, both on my computer and phone (I use wireless sync).

Again, if I were to go to my car and click on one of those songs with the missing metadata in the picture, there's a good chance it'll show the metadata. Until it gets to the next track where that one will not show its metadata and will continue to not show until I restart my car or manually pick a song.

It's hard to capture, but I've observed it go to the next track and I CAN see the metadata but it quickly disappears, showing the unknown album, no art, etc. I'm assuming UNKNOWN ALBUM is merely a placeholder when there's no album title metadata.

And yes, weirdly enough, the Title and Artist metadata tend to stay. Not sure why those are ok, it's the rest of it that disappears.

Hi,
Sorry for late reply, I tried on three cars meantime and I could not replicate, those that show full logs (NEWER AVRCP) they show it on each track.
Please send us several debug logs when it happens using ☰ -> ? -> Send Logs -> Write each log ID here before sending -> Send logs.

Lets hope taht Logs will contain enough information what MMA sends to Head Unit to track what is going on.

Sorry haven't been in my car a few days so didn't have much chance to do anything.

Hopped in really quick and sent off some debug logs.
Debug Log ID: HSDCYVVMEG

Also below is a link to a quick video showing what is happening. Not that it wasn't necessarily clear before but just to show exactly what I see:

Another Debug Log ID: IDE92H9UWM

It's easy to reproduce -- it happens every time in the car for me.

Hi,
I still can't reproduce and I was finally able to test on my Friends Honda CR-V 2016 that should use same class of Head unit.

I added it at https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=20545 for analyze and see if we can influence what MMA sends thru Android system BT onto Head Unit.

Another debug log from today: Z4V1TQKVCD

If there's anything else I can do to give more info, let me know. Like I said, it happens every time so I can always send in more debug logs or take pictures/video. If helpful, I can try to get the full file data and metadata of the songs I'm playing (assuming it's not already in the debug logs).

The music plays just fine, so it's not like it's completely broken. Just a minor annoyance not seeing some of the metadata and track length.
