Version of MusicBrainz DB

Post by PeterXXX »

Can't find artists that were added (by myself) to MusicBrainz DB weeks or even months ago. :-?
I wonder at which state of actuallity is the DB used in MM?
Music library of about 36.000 items (MP3, FLAC),
mainly maintained with MM5 (lifetime license) and Mp3tag,
on Win10 x64 22H2,
stored on Synology NAS DS218+ running MinimServer.

I've just checked and both are in our local mirror database, but none of them have defined wiki page so we have no details about them.

Is the issue you're having with locating information about an Artist (for which Wikipedia is used) or a CD (for which MusicBrainz is used)?

But why am I asked then to add an artist to MusicBrainz, when he can't be found/selected?
That was what I did. No hint about a wiki page that has to exist.
I thought MusicBrainz is the DB where MM relies on.
Not funny! :-?

Hi,
Can you please open support Ticket and supply us sample tracks so that we can deeply analyze search packets and responses including audio data fingerprinting.

Imo you're making it more complicated than it is. There's no problem with identifying releases or tracks.
What I was complaining about:
- you add a new release from a new artist.
- you go to the artist's window and see no or even wrong information.
- you click the update/search button and don't find him in the selection list, that's where you are asked to add him in MusicBrainz. But if you do so, you won't find him still because, as explained above by "lowlander", he has no wiki page.

Imo at least the information on MB should be used then. That's all.
Cheers

Exactly, but to see if our algorithm for tagging works OK we need sample files for testing and liek you said you already have example/sample that have correct info in MB but no Wiki Page. I see this as improvement not complication, as MM currently as we all know do not show any or show wrong info on Artist pages.
