Another ReplayGain Question [#15839]

Post by Mark S »

I have tried to read all the forum entries on ReplayGain but still not 100%. I use MM and MMA exclusively.

I am happy that ticking Playback > Level Volume normalises the majority of files but it just doesn't work for a few albums. NB: I "normalise" all my file to 92db with Mp3Gain before adding to MM library.

What I have tried to do is add the specific files to Mp3Gain, set a high level eg: 98db, but nothing happens. Mp3Gain shows a TrackGain of 6db but the Track Volume column in MM stills shows a variety -7db to +7db. In this did not change, even after a Re-Scan.

I suspect I am misunderstanding some part of the process.

Use Analyze Volume again in MediaMonkey, disable the option to only this for unknown values in the MediaMonkey settings though.

Not sure my question has been understood. I use Analyze Volume and in most cases it works perfectly. However, I have a few albums / tracks that are either too soft / loud and I want to manually adjust.

In the Filelisting you can edit Track Volume using F2.

Thank you so much. However, I had a value of -0.5 db. Pressed F2 and typed in -0.6 db (trying to soften the song slightly). MM changed the value to +2.5 db. What is happening here? Very confused.

And here's another member with my subsequent question (after using F2).

Perhaps I am talking of two different things? Looking at a specific track in MMW, the "Track Volume" column shows +0-5 dB. Yet (and after syncing) I open the track on MMA and the "Leveling" shows -2.5 dB.

Thanks. But if MMA is set to 89, doesn't that just mean all tracks will play a little softer? Please forgive my persistence but I still haven't worked out how to adjust the volume of individual tracks.

Sorry, just re-read your answer. I can now see what your are saying. +0.5 to -2.5 is 3 Db ie: 92 down to 89. But sill haven't worked out how to adjust individual track volumes.
