Searching for blank entries

Post by JoePublic »

I can't find a thread on this topic, so...

Is there any way to search for a field with an empty value from the Search Bar? So far I've had no luck in doing that.

The reason I want to do that is to search for some combination of things where one thing is blank, for example,
composer:"carole king" genre IS unknown

I know there are workarounds to get what I want. I could do composer:"carole king" and then sort the results by the genre column to put all the unknowns together. Or I could create an auto playlist where the "IS unknown" feature is supported. But often it would be more convenient (quicker) for a one-off query to just get the results I want from the search bar, which I use a lot to manage my 360,000 track library. So I thought I'd ask.

If the capability isn't available, that would be a nice, albeit minor, feature to add.
