[SOLVED] Auto-Tag from Web can't show results

Postby JoePublic » Wed Jan 03, 2018 11:41 am

Hi. Is anyone else having this problem?

I use Auto-Tag from Web some... not a lot... but it always worked for me in that it always successfully attempted to process a request, even though it didn't always come up with usable results. On the whole, it is a very helpful function. I use it primarily for retrieving cover art and less often for lyrics.

Today, it no longer seems to work. Instead of returning results or null results, it says "Couldn't show results. HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request". And that error comes up right away, as opposed to the churning it sometimes does when trying to display what it thinks might be appropriate.

I've tried it on several different albums with the same result. Any ideas anyone?

MMW Gold Lifetime 4.1.19.1859 which is the current version.

Oops! I just discovered that this is a known problem. Someone grabbed a thread from 2009 to report the 2018 problem. :-?

Still, it's a bit disappointing that there doesn't seem to be option that doesn't require third party registration.

Is the Discogs tagger still available as an alternative? If so, could someone post a link to download it. I noticed it has disappeared from my extensions altogether for some reason, and I don't know how to get it back (I've just been updating it for years so have forgotten how I got it in the first place).

After the successful installation of Discogs, I should still create an account there.
But I don't want to!!!
Was so far very happy with media monkey but so missing for me is a crucial feature!

I have been trying, but I do not know how to install Discogs. When I try to execute the install.vbs file I get an error: "Object required: 'SDB'". What am I missing? Thanks

Auto-Tag from Web no longer working

Postby Agent_9191 » Wed Jan 10, 2018 9:12 pm

Not sure when it started, but the "Auto-Tag from Web" is no longer working. Normally only use Amazon US, but tried them all. It all comes back with
Code: Select all
Couldn't show results.
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request

So sniffing the call being made, it looks like the Amazon Affiliate code has been removed. Because this is the actual results of the call:
Code: Select all
<ItemSearchErrorResponse xmlns="http://ecs.amazonaws.com/doc/2005-10-05/">
<Error>
<Code>AWS.InvalidAssociate</Code>
<Message>
Your 1EYXVSY9HM4XCVN8GK82 is not registered as an Amazon Associate. Please register as an associate at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/assoc_credentials/home.
</Message>
</Error>
<RequestID>0240a869-d691-4e8b-a210-d98fcd3ad007</RequestID>
</ItemSearchErrorResponse>

Thanks. Search apparently really sucks because it didn't match "Auto-Tag" to "Auto-Tagging".
