No artwork for video files

Post by theonlyrick »

Hi - I've just added a few MP4s to my library, but they don't have thumbnails in MMW. (They do in Windows Explorer.)

I have "Generate thumbnails for videos" selected under Tools, Options, Library.

I've rescanned a few times. Any ideas?

I did read from a very old post about needing MMW codecs from support, or something. Is that correct?

Latest version of MMW - 4.1.19.1859. W10, fully patched.

Thanks, Richard

Also, the videos play OK in MMW (and in Media Player Classic).

Hi,
Video thumb creation triggers bit slower, teh safest way is still manually initiate thumb creation on selected video files.

Thanks for the reply. How do I do this?

I've re-scanned the media by pressing Insert. I already have "Generate thumbnails for videos" selected under Tools, Options, Library.

OK, thanks. It might be that I need to have certain codecs installed?

I'll raise ticket with MM support.

Cheers, R.

Hi,
Thank you. If MMW can play the file and can add it to library it should be able to create thumb. Have you tried to Manually create Thumb?

How do you manually create thumbnails? (As mentioned, the only way I know is to force a media rescan and make sure the thumbnails option is ticked.)

Hi,
Play the video -> Pause on frame you want as Thumbnail -> Right click on Video -> Save Thumbnail.

Hi - That worked when choosing the current frame. It didn't work when choosing to 'Generate automatically'.

(And when I had successfully given it a frame, that wasn't overwritten by selecting Generate automatically afterwards.)

Thanks
