Episodes not sorting

Post by bdb484 »

Hi, gang.

I've got one set of episodes that refuses to sort properly. Although all of the file properties are identical -- other than Title and Episode # -- sorting by Series keeps bringing up Episode 2 before Episode 1. If I sort by Series and then by Episode #, they sort correctly. If I sort by Series and then by Title ("Episode 1" and "Episode 2"), they sort correctly.

This happens when I'm in the TV node. If I just make an autoplaylist for the series, programmed to sort on Series, it doesn't happen, but if I then manually click to sort on series, it again puts Episode 2 up top.

This is only happening with one of the maybe two dozen series in my library.

Any ideas?

Check Producer or Director, one of those fields causes Series to be seen as separate.

Do you have season # entered correctly? Empty season # would put it on top.

Maybe a screenshot would help.

Director and producer are both empty. All episodes are tagged as season 2.

Here you go.

This is what it looks like sorted by Series:

And then sorted by Series/Episode:

Here's the File Properties for Episodes 1 and 2. Identical as far as I can tell:

EDIT: Not sure why the links aren't working, but the pics can be found here:

Sorry for not replying you here also.

I see what you mean.

I wonder if you can try MM5 and let me know if and how it detects your TV series and use Right click -> Auto Tag to search for Series Info?

I also wonder if you have tried https://www.tinymediamanager.org/ to fetch metadata for TV Series and is MM5 import them?

I've seen your images 1.png, 2png, 3png, 4.png and for me it looks that it works as expected?
If you sort just by Series then it is sorted by series (as on the 1.png) and if you sort by Series, Season, Episode then it is sorted by Series, Season, Episode as on the image 4.png?

Ludek: My expectations was that when I sorted by Series, it should sort by Series; and within each series, sort by season; and within each season, sort by episode. That's what it does with every other series, at least.

Peke: I never would have expected it, but the problem persists with MM5:

Notice, though, that episodes 1, 3, and 4 all have numerals in front of them. When I look at shows that sort properly, that usually doesn't happen:

TMM doesn't seem to be doing anything for me, either.

Hi,
As Ludek pointed All is working as it should. Your 5.PNG confirms it as Episode 2 do not have Episode Number in properties. Same goes for Videos in 6.png where none of tracks have Episode # entered which make Numbering correctly.

See my

Regarding TMM it fetches correct metadata for series and can be used to correct Filenames so that MMW can pick them up.

Hi, Peke. I do have episode numbers in the properties. Unless there's somewhere else to put them, I think I've got all the properties as they should be to sort logically.

Finally fixed it, should anyone else come across this problem.

Although each file was already tagged with episode numbers, I was able to get the whole thing sorting properly again just by stripping them all out and retagging them. Everything now sorts as expected.

Thanks to all for their help.
