Album Artist node shows only 2 of 13 albums for a particular artist
Artist node shows all 13 albums
Not all Album Artists listings are incorrect (so far I have found only a few, as discovery is difficult)
All Album Artists are duplicated in Artist
Using MM 4.1.16; Win10; 180,000 items in library
Album Artist node corrupt

Re: Album Artist node corrupt
Are you sure that it is really album artist and not just artist of some tracks on the albums?lcurry wrote:Album Artist node shows only 2 of 13 albums for a particular artist
Artist node shows all 13 albums
I guess that for the two albums it is album artist, but for the 11 remaining it is just artist of some tracks of the albums, isn't it?
Re: Album Artist node corrupt
I was unclear. Sorry.
For all of my items, the Artist entry repeats the Album Artist then adds any specific individuals. For example,
Album Artist: The Beatles
Artist: The Beatles; John Lennon; Paul McCartney; George Harrison; Ringo Starr
The missing albums show up when using the Artist node and the Album node but not the Album Artist node; the Artist & Album Artist node returns the same 2 of 13 albums (as per earlier example) in the substructure of the node but lists all 13 albums in the main window (along with the Artist-only listings, such as being on a Various Artists album).
The missing albums show up using Search; the missing albums are physically on the hard drive. Adding/rescanning and optimizing database does not fix. Why doesn't the Album Artist node reflect the same data that the others do?
Thanks for your help

Re: Album Artist node corrupt
Which would show the Album only under The Beatles Album Artist node, not the others like Ringo Starr.lcurry wrote:Album Artist: The Beatles

Re: Album Artist node corrupt
No Ringo doesn't have all of The Beatles' albums under his Album Artist listing in my MM.db (only Ringo Starr albums). But NEITHER DO THE BEATLES
However, Ringo's Artist listing will show all Beatles albums.
My point, however garbled, was that because I repeat Album Artist at the beginning of the Artist data entry box on the Basic Properties page & because the Artist node functions properly, Artist node recognizes and lists Albums by the Artist (as well as other albums the Artist appears on). The Album Artist node does not reliably recognize and list Albums by the Album Artist.
Hopefully this explains a bit better what the problem is...

Try running File > Maintain Library with complete optimization checked.

Re: Album Artist node corrupt
Ran complete optimization again, restarted MM just for luck, but sadly no change
So far I have found only a few Album Artists with problems but I have just begun to search for them. Don't know how extensive the problem is. Don't know of anything that could have caused this. Don't know when the problem started.
Further suggestions welcomed

Try the Entire Library > Album Artist node (enable under File > Manage Collections).

Re: Album Artist node corrupt
The Album Artist nodes under Audio and under Entire Library show the same error.
I also have many files in a Video directory, in which I have not been able to discover any similar error...yet.
