I just switched from an Samsung Galaxy S4 to an Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F, Android 7.0, MMA 1.3.0.0683) and determine issues with crossfading.
With the old S4 I did not have this problem.
When a song reaches the last seconds when crossfading should begin, the song get's paused for ~0.5 second and then crossfading starts.
This is 100% reproducible but only happens when using the phone's built-in speakers. When i use my bluetooth headphones, there is no gap in the crossfade.

Re: Crossfade does not work on Samsung Galaxy S7
This problem persists in MMA 1.3.0.0685
Re: Crossfade does not work on Samsung Galaxy S7
The issue is device-specific, but I'm able to replicate on an S5/S7. We're shipping a device with the problem to the dev taking care of this. Might take a bit of time to resolve though, so you might want to switch to Gapless playback for now.

With Build 1.3.1.0701 there are still crossfade problems.
Now, the actual playing song shortly stops when exactly reaching the last 5 seconds. Then crossfading to next song begins.

I'm able to replicate--we're working on it. The problem seems to be format-specific, occurring only with MP3 files. Let us know if you're seeing otherwise. See:
