Mediamonkey64helper.exe Preventing UPgrade

Post by Asect »

C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey64Helper.exe

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile Failed; Code 5
Access is Denied

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

Current MediaMonkey 4.1.15.1830. Continue to get message to upgrade. Upgrade is also listed as 4.1.15.1830. Why do I keep getting the message to upgrade and why the continual error message when attempting to upgrade as the program is directing?

Do you have MMW installed as service?

There is a MediaMonkeyService running on Local System. I simply installed the program, so don't know if this is supposed to be there or not.

Restarted system several times before the install and waited for a while before attempting to upgrade. This hasn't seemed to work. I will attempt the other options listed in the reply from Lowlander. Thanks.

Hi,
Ok, so something is locking the file.

For such cases I personally always use https://lockhunter.com/ that should help me what lock file. Alos there is always just brute force rename of "Mediamonkey64helper.exe" -> "1Mediamonkey64helper.exe" that I can delete on next restart.

You also may want to check the Task Manager and make sure any MediaMonkey related exe's aren't running.

Lowlander & Peke.....

Thanks for the help! Went into Task Manager and sure enough, MediaMonkey64Helper.exe was listed and running. Along with two other MediaMonkey files (MediaMonkey (32 Bit) was one, MediaMonkeyService (32 Bit) was the other). Perhaps in the future upgrades there will be a way to program full release of MediaMonkey files before upgrading? Just a suggestion. Thanks again!
