Playing songs from sd card sometimes causes it to detach

Post by sn0skier »

I don't know if it's a bug in MM or a problem with my hardware, firmware or something else, but, while I'm playing songs off my 200GB microSDXC card, about every 10 minutes (though NOT a regular interval) the card will detach and reattach very quickly. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem except that this causes the track to stop playing and if I press play again the song starts at the beginning. I haven't noticed this behavior while using the card in other ways (maybe it happened while transferring files to it using explorer? I don't remember) and it certainly never happens when the card isn't in use (I would hear the detach/reattach sound).
I'm looking for suggestions as to what could be the cause and how to fix it.
Suggestions for workarounds would be helpful as well.
Pleas halp.

Send a debug log from the About screen in MMA right after it happens. It may provide clues as to why this happens. The open a Support Ticket with the logID.

I didn't see a debug option in the about screen and didn't realize what MMA was. Now I'm putting 1 and 1 together and realizing that you think I'm on an android device. I am not, I'm on a Surface Pro 3 with only 128GB of SSD, hence the need for the 200GB MicroSDXC card. Is a debug log still the thing to do? How do I send a debug log? Do I have to download a debug version of the software and install it first?

I posted a second log, which included entries in the debug log related to the MediaMonkey Minilyrics embedder that I had previously filtered because they happen so often. Has there been any progress on this issue/will there be?
Thanks for your help.

It seems that it is a problem with my sd card, as I am having problems in other music players as well. That being said, the problems seem worse in MM and I would still love suggestions for a workaround. I will close the bug in the bugtracker.

When that starts to happen I usually format SD card (on device) and continue to use it with no issues.

So I fixed this problem by rolling back the realtek USB card reader driver (which is actually built into the device; there is no USB). Apparently this a pretty common problems on Surface Pro devices, especially when coupled with SanDisk microSDXC cards.
